I have a 1945 WC-51 3/4 ton Dodge for sale ! This very nice unrestored truck has lived in a great environment for preservation here at 9000 ft elevation in the High Rockies. I found this vehicle several years ago near Creed Colorado it had been sitting for many years and needed the usual repairs to get rolling again. The truck is virtually rust free! The only real rusting has taken place in the battery compartment just behind the passenger seat. On these late model WCs the battery sat in this location along with some of the radio electrical connections.
The truck runs Great ! and has participated in the last five fourth of July parades in my mountain town. Mechanically its close to perfect I have rebuilt or replaced anything that needed attention Brakes = shoes. wheel cyl. hoses. lines. master cyl seals. Axles = knuckle seals. bearings. yokes (ass needed). gear oil replaced in all compartments seals done on transfer case and u-joints. Engine runs like a sewing machine carburetor professionally rebuilt and tested complete tune-up new hoses and thermostat. Electrical system completely operational all lights work including blackouts ! I have added an additional light assembly to the passenger rear that is totally operational for modern convenience.
I put between 50 and 75 miles a year on the truck with only the occasional vapor locking on a hot summer day. I have installed a electric 12 v fuel pump at the tank to help elevate this problem. It has 5 new tires. tubes and flaps. new seat covers and padding. reproduction tailgate and chains. This is a great running machine that can be enjoyed as is or could be a very easy total restoration ! You can acquire the needed wood bed kit and canvas from various restoration companies that would make this project complete. I hate to sell the truck but I want start on my WC-63 that has been waiting far to long. As you can see from the photos the truck is very complete and original and I have probably forgotten a few things that have been done to the vehicle. I want to mention that it is an original 12 v system and I believe it to have been a radio communication vehicle from the Army.
