You are looking at an authentic 1976 Dodge W 200 heavy duty 3/4 ton pickup. This M 880 was issued
to an Illinois National Guard maintenance company and was purchased in
1992 at a Defense Reutilization Management Office auction at Great Lakes. IL.
The military
services had thousands of these trucks during the late 1970's
and 1980's. This one is
fitted for Army field/combat use and has a Dodge 318 V 8 engine. automatic
transmission. four wheel drive. hi and lo range.
Mileage is unknown since the
instrument panel was replaced at some point. but is estimated at less than
40 K. All terrain tires are in VG condition. Spare is a snow tire. During
its military life. it probably went only from Chicago area to Fort Mc Coy on
annual training (speculation). otherwise being parked in a motor pool.
I t has been parked in garage storage since 1992.
There is some body damage (dented side panel) and surface rust from military use.
Included with
the vehicle are the cargo box bows and tarp. military maintenance manuals. replacement front and rear bumpers and a replacement tail gate. The engine turns over when spraying starter fluid into the carburetor. but there is definitely a fuel issue. Whether it is the carburetor or the fuel lines is unknown. The last time the vehicle ran was when it was moved to its current garage in 2010. Also. the gasoline in the tank is very old ( 7 years ). The vehicle is
sold "AS IS" from current parked location near Johnsburg. IL and will need to be towed to its new home.
