When the head of Jaguar. Bill Lyons. set out to put Jaguar on the podium at Le Mans in 1950. his efforts created the C-Type.

Based originally on the XK 120 platform and engine. the XK 120“C” stood for Competition.

Unveiled in 1951. it immediately took a first place finish. and again in 1953 before the D-Type took over as the new racing legend.

With the C-Types short-lived success on the track. its place in racing history is forever assured.

Only 53 units were said to have produced. of which were all sold to the public for normal street use and to driven to the track on race day.

They proved to be very tractable road cars!

This beautiful alloy-bodied 1953 Jaguar C-Type replica was produced in Argentina by the skilled craftsmen of Pur Sang Automotive.

While restoring an authentic C-Type racer for a private client. the jigs and buck templates produced were used to produce a second 100% dimensionally correct aluminum body.

That splendid body was turned into this reproduction example finished in British Racing Green with Black leather racing seats. and powered by a robust 4. 2 L DOHC Inline 6 cylinder engine with 4-speed manual transmission.

These time-tested power plants proved to be very efficient since their introduction! Twin SU HIF 7 carburetors feed this tuned engine to produce an estimated 210 bhp. along with custom made side-exit pipes to emit a wonderful sports-racer exhaust note that instantly puts a smile on your face! The forward tubular chassis was borrowed from a 1965 Jaguar utilizing the design of the later era E-types with a twin wishbone independent suspension. servo-assisted Dunlop disc brakes. adjustable coil-over shocks. and rack and pinion steering.

At the rear. you will find a period correct live axle with adjustable coil shocks & triangulated torsion bar suspension. along with Girling drum brakes.

Other unique features of this Jaguar include Moto Lita steering wheel. true Brooklands windscreen. 15” 72-spoke painted wire spoke wheels with matching spare located in lockable storage compartment. quick release racing fuel cap. turn signals. horn. Smiths instrumentation. leather hood straps along with secondary side lock handles. alternator charging system. and electric cooling fan.

This car still gets our attention when we just walk by it. so we can only imagine the audience it will get while out on the streets! The remarkable craftsmanship of its unmatched Argentinian aluminum construction. the attention to detail in the smooth cockpit surround. and the vinyl graphics to highlight a true racing heritage of the #18 Le Mans winning example driven by Tony Rolt & Duncan Hamilton in 1953 only add to its unique. one-of-a-kind character!
