VW 1303 LS CONVERTIBLE BEETLE 1979 (Original RHD)
It's time to sell my beetle and as you can see from the pictures its a lovely looking car that does turn heads and attracts attention when ever its out on the road. I have owned this car since Feb 2009 and since then have had a great time visiting shows and just generally driving it. so much so that in May 2011 I went to the Mini & VW show at Knebworth and the car won the 1970's VW category and I didn't even plan to enter it!!! So you can see it's got potential to be a real show winner. unfortunately I do not have the time to get it to that stage as I need the funds for a new work van and a business that I'm hoping to set up.
Since owning I have fitted shortened front springs and a front brace to stiffen up the front suspension. Also I had a stereo system fitted it consists of a single CD player with ipod connection. ubwoofer (under the drivers seat). lpine speakers and tweeters. Its loud and crystal clear but sometimes cuts out when accelarating. Apart from a little bit of welding for the last MOT and some steering parts on the previous MOT the spend on this car has been very small. I also have a brand new N/S mirror. that will need to be fitted. but I will put in a part of the deal.
As you can see in the photo's the bottom of the drivers door has a bit of rust and will need attention at some point and there are a few bubbles in the paint work but nothing major. The floors. eater channels and body of the car are all rock solid.
The engine is a 1600 and has twin carbs fitted and the manifolds have Ottinger stamped on them. he engine is the original and I have a letter from Volkswagen Wolfsburg to prove this. The engine also needs some attention. it has an oil leak and a small amount of endfloat but it still pulls very well and has NEVER let me down.
The roof is perfect and has been changed in the past as the original colour was black when it came out of the factory.
The interior is green leather and is in good condition. the front seats are Recaro's. It has a Gene Berg short shift gear lever and a black leather steering wheel. which I have been told is an Ottinger product that VW fitted back in the day.
The car was valued at £10. 00 and I have priced it sensibly as it does need a little attention. I have tried to be as honest as I can in my description but you must take in to consideration that this car is 34 years old and I'm not going to let it go for silly money.
Viewings are welcome and please ask me as many questions as you like. but not what the reserve price is!!!!
If you are lucky enough to win he auction I will only accept CASH on collection.
Good Luck.

Hi there, I am currently trying to purchase the same car in australia. However the one I am looking at has front Drum brakes, but isn't it supposed to be Disc brakes for the LS ?
