1968 Morris Mini Cooper Mk. 2

Comprehensively restored and mechanically rebuilt 6 years ago (less than 5000 miles since). this Cooper is Tartan Red with Black roof sitting on genuine Minilite alloys. There is a full file of receipts and the car has been recently tuned and serviced and is ready to drive.

This is a relatively late Mk. 2 Cooper model. registered on 4th April 1968. By 2005 it was residing in Granada. Southern Spain and over the following 2 years. the car was completely rebuilt. This included:

Both sub-frames were cleaned and paintedAll brushes replacedFully wax oiledBraking System
All seals replacedNew brake lines. pads and shoes throughout.
The car reapperad on VOSA in 2009 with a recorded 3876 miles. In 2011. the Cooper was sold by a dealer here in the UK and has changed hands twice since. Recent work has included complete replacement of the Hydrolastic suspension displaces with new front to rear pipes and new front sub-frame. This work was undertaken by Somerford Mini Ltd. of Chippenham at a cost of £2106 in September 2012. In October 2013 it was given a full service including new fuel pump. all-new ignition parts. new spark plugs and tuning.

To restore a car today to this standard and specification would not be cost-effective. With parts bills alone for over £3000 and an estimated 200 hours of labour involved. not including the professional re-spray. such a restoration would cost upwards of £15. 00 excluding the initial purchase of the car.

Other than one or two paint-work blemishes. it is in very tidy condition. although you are encouraged to view before bidding.

The “A” Series fires up instantly (with plenty of choke!). Once warm. the car drives great with instant acceleration and legendary road manners. Despite its age and diminutive size. it still feels fast and begs to be driven.

The car comes with a large file of receipts from the 2006-2007 restoration. several old MOT Certificates. an original Handbook and is taxed (exempt) and MOT'd to September 2014.

This is a private sale. but the car is currently stored by a motor trader as we no longer have the space to keep it garaged. You are encouraged to view the Cooper before bidding to ensure you know what you are getting.
