During the Civil War in 1861, the company received a large government order for wagons and vans are in great demand among the settlers in the West. Over the history of the company were produced 750,000. Affairs of the company went up the hill. Closer by 1890 its turnover from the production of vehicles and crews have made 2 million dollars. With the discovery of bodies producing and manufacturing of electric vehicle in 1902 Studebaker Brothers Company entered into a new era of business. In 1903 appeared "Studebaker Graford" with a gasoline engine.

Back in the late 19th century, the company tried to create my own car. Already by 1912, it began to produce cars of its own design. Models with the 4 - and 6-cylinder engines have enjoyed a very good demand, and the American designer Raymond Loewy made sure that the models "Studebaker" look in a new way.

In 1954, after the merger with "Packard", has become a firm to take their positions in the market. In 1962 the company introduced the model Avanti. This sports coupe has been a kind of front design. Interior equipment was also innovative. Despite the fact that the company has ceased to exist in 1966, Avanti is still produced by the former official dealer of the company, the company "Altman" in South Bend. Last Studebaker rolled out in March 1966, and with it came the end of the glorious tradition of a motor vehicle, and before that a horse-drawn, which has existed for 115 years.
