For sale is my very straight and solid 1977 late bay window camper LHD. Still powered by its original (I believe) 2. 0 i litre aircooled engine. she goes really well and turns many heads. I've taken this van to several VW shows and in a field of hundreds of vans. this still gets the attention. The van has just sailed through its MOT with no advisories.

From the history that comes with this van. I understand this vehicle was imported to the UK from the Netherlands in 2005 where the van was used for the fire service. The original colour was green (see last photo) and when it arrived here it was well serviced and in immaculate condition with no rust.

Once in the UK the life of this van takes a very different path. It was bought by a branch of Sony UK Ltd. resurrected in satin black. adorned with loads of Sony goodies and used as a demonstration vehicle at the 2005 Max Power show (see first photo - wheels have now changed to the Empi look ones).

Since then she's had a few private owners who essentially kept the vehicle as a show van and then I've owned her since 2010. I decided to change the layout to what you can see in the main photos. It has an L shaped seating area and a ¾ width rock'n'roll bed which. when folded out provides a full width sleeping area. The rear seats also have lap belts which are connected to standard seat belt points. There are storage cupboards below the side seats and a gloss red cabinet behind the front seats. I tend to just use a portable stove when camping (included in sale) which I can then tidy away in the cupboard. The floor is a high quality black ash laminate which looks very tidy.

A fair bit of the Sony in car entertainment still remains in the van. This includes:

· Sony DVD head unit (MEX-R 1)
· 2 Sony 1300 w subs powered by a 1400 w Sony amp
· A pair of 300 w Sony 6 x 9 s powered by another Sony amp
· 1 Sony 1100 w sub (plus other components and speakers all mounted in the dash)

There's also an AUX in for your mp 3 player and a lead to connect a monitor to the DVD head unit.

also included if wanted
a reversing camera with a 4 inch monitor hooked up to the cd/dvd playerjust bought a second hand kitchen unit with oven. hob and grill. sink and fridge(gas/12 v/230 v)and a second had full length bench which i was going to replace the 2 front seat

There's an internal lighting set up by a company called UFO I believe which consists of ceiling lights. a light under the cabinet and ground lighting. It comes with a remote control and umpteen settings which can control the colour of the lights and the pattern that they flash in. I believe it can even flash in time with the beat of the music but don't ask me how.

All of the stereo/DVD player related equipment and the internal lights run off of the leisure battery which is located below the front seats and comes with a battery charger.

Those of you with standard vision will have noticed the Audi steering wheel and that the dash looks a little different. It was completely smoothed over and a Dakota digital dash installed with some nice features including a rev counter and looks very slick.

The alarm is a ‘Magicar' remote access alarm which is quite sophisticated. The doors no longer have handles and are opened remotely by the key fob. The whole system can also do a lot more than that and it comes with a manual.

There's a site hook up point connection in the engine bay which is connected to a couple of 240 v plug points internally.

The black. Empi look alloys are the ones that come with the van and are virtually new as are all 4 tyres. The front suspension was changed a couple of years ago.

In the time that I've owned the van I haven't had any problems with her at all. I would still describe the condition as very good and solid. The underside was sealed some time ago and this probably needs doing again but it has been protected well in that time. there are a few areas of bubbly rust coming through around the front arches and above the exhaust and in one or two places the rust has taken hold a bit further and will require looking at soon but on the whole she's very straight.
