Classic 1978 Fiat 124 Spider Pininfarina Convertible

This is a really good example of a rare and appreciating classic car that's very much sought after. It has the favoured 1800cc engine. Pininfarina styling and was originally imported from the US some years ago (hence the LHD). It spent many years off the road and was brought back to life just over a year ago. not as a restoration as it didn't need that. just some fettling. I have since driven it on several long-distance drives to properly road test it and get the cobwebs out of the system so to speak.

This car will be great for shows. You could use it as your daily drive although I wouldn't because of its classic status. It's a great summer weekend car though. To learn more about these beautiful cars see here: http://en. wikipedia. org/wiki/Fiat_124_Sport_Spider.

It has been dry stored over the winter and now is absolutely the time to buy this beautiful summertime car. It will be sold with 1 year's MOT.

The good points:
Good solid bodywork. electricals and mechanicals. Drives well and really turns heads. Pininfarina styling.
Nice leather interior. Original wooden steering wheel. Roof in good condition & watertight. Scorpion alloys. unmarked. Good tyres. Good brightwork. Battery isolator (this really matters with cars like this). 1800cc engine. Stainless steel exhaust.

Please remember that this car is 35 years old so don't expect it to be perfect. There is nothing wrong that can't be easily rectified. especially if you're an enthusiast. collector or investor.

Things requiring attention:

The bonnet catch can have a mind of its own.
The metal roof struts could do with some attention. They're completely sound. just rather old. It's a cosmetic issue really. made all the less significant as they're only visible from the inside when the roof's closed. The clutch may need adjusting as the car can jump out of gear in 1st when cold. I'm not sure whether the exhaust note is as it should be or whether there may be a minor blow. but in any event this will be picked up when it's MOT'd prior to the new buyer taking it away. There was an occasional misfire whilst driving when we originally road-tested the car last year. This may have rectified itself. Very minor imperfections to bodywork. although much better than you'd expect from a 35 year old car.

I'd much prefer that you come to view the car in Bedford prior to buying. It is advertised elsewhere so I reserve the right to withdraw this ad. You won't find a better example unless it's been recently restored and. please remember. any faults are minor and these cars (especially with the 1800cc engine) are increasingly rare and valuable.

I'm happy to arrange export to most places in the World.

If you'd like to discuss the car please contact me on 07577200300 (please text first if possible and I'll call you back - I get too many spam calls).

Please don't ask me for my "best price". it'll sell for what a collector is willing to pay and I'm in no hurry to sell. I will consider offers if you want to make one but please check the prices on websites such as "Car & Classic" before you do.
