1953 GMC RARE 5-Window Pickup Truck ****Excellent Restoration Candidate*** for sale
Current customer rating:
Bought this truck to restore. but I just have too many projects going on at once. Haven't touched it since I bought it. Anyhow. trying to list all the goods/needs as thoroughly as possible. so buyer can rest assured that he/she is getting a great project truck.
This is a very rare original/complete 1953 GMC 5 window longbed pickup truck. The body on this pickup is very straight. with one small amount of bondo skimmed on driver fender. Front and rear glass in tact and in good shape. Dash is nice with everything minus the radio there. The floor pans will need to be replaced. but no other major rust. Usual patina around entire truck. Original wood in bed. Seat cushions are missing and the door glass will need to be replaced. Drivers side door will not seem to latch. Heater/components all still intact. Spare tire mount in bed with a wheel to match the other 3. All the suspension/Steering all original and never tampered with from the looks of things. Aluminum grille in great shape.
The inline 238-6 cylinder motor appears to spin freely and was told by the previous owner that it ran great when parked. However. I would recommend cleaning out the fuel lines. changing plugs. oil. etc. Still has the "GMC" logo valve cover. The reason the truck was parked is due to a broken u-joint on the trans side. The trans is the original 4 speed manual. The only thing I notice about the motor is that it appears to have been swapped to 12 v.
The truck is very much still a project. but an excellent candidate to bring back to life. You don't see alot of these GMC 5-window trucks. The Chevy version is far more common. which will make it even cooler when completed. The cheapest GMC of it's kind I found on Craigslist in my area is $5000. so I'm listing this below.
Clean Title. Truck spent 3 yrs in Washington and the last 18 yrs garaged in California. Prior history unknown. Vin tag shows the truck was built in the Michigan assembly plant.
Anyhow. please feel free to ask any questions. Thank you.
