You are looking at my 1995 John Cooper Rover Mini.   I have owned this little guy “Frodo” since April 2012 and unfortunately due to having a young family and working full time I have not had the time to enjoy him to the fullness that would have liked and I would like to see him rehomed to someone who will be able to show him the twisty A and B roads that he deserves.

The fact that he has done under 600 miles in 12 months is proof of this!

Please be warned that Frodo is not the usual John Cooper mini.   Until 28/06/2001 he was a standard 1275 injection until he visited (Ian) Osborne Automotive Preparation in Surrey.   Ian Osborne has worked on Mini Engines for years and has moved onto Porsche Racing in recent times.

Frodo underwent a full engine rebuild at 57000 miles and was rebored to a 1380cc.  I have a copy of the engineers report from Ian Osborne and a list of parts used including:

1380 Powemax Pistons

Balanced Conrod

Reground crank

Venier cambelt kit

Metro turbo clutch cover and clutch plate

Janspeed LCB inlet manifold

Rebuilt gearbox

Tuftriden Diff Pin

Lightened flywheel.

Maniflow centre exit exhaust.

The final addition was a genuine blue coloured John Cooper Conversion modified cylinder head which allows Frodo to be called a John Cooper Conversion rather than a John Cooper Works Conversion.   The difference being that it wasn't done by John Cooper garages and isn't certificated.

Frodo has now covered 90600 miles but the engine has only effectively done 33600 miles since it was rebuilt and the gearbox is one of the smoothest I have known in a mini.

The rest of Frodo is in lovely condition with good paintwork throughout and no signs of dreaded tinworm. The interior has been cleaned and the seats are in good condition with no tears to the fabric or leather. (The headlining was replaced by a previous owner and could do with a clean with some flash)

Since owning him. I have replaced the dashboard to a walnut Wood and Pickett 3+3 with new cream dials for oil pressure. clock and voltmeter.

I have also replaced the underlining and carpet. fitted a centre console from custom interiors. new Pioneer stereo (cd-less) model with audio streaming from Iphone/android and a seperate CB radio.   He also has a stealth speaker board under the rear seat and a set 9x5 speakers in addition to the standard parcel shelf ones.   He also has a compact airhorn fitted so you can hear him coming.

A brand new uprated 70 Amp alternator was fitted 4 months ago.

I have also done an H4 headlamp conversion and fitted 4 x 7. 5” chrome spotlamps  via a professionally made wiring loom.   These work with the main beam but could be altered if required.

The Front tyres are Falkens and are 12 months old.   The rears were replaced with Falkens prior to his recent MOT and are brand new.

Frodo has been MOT'd on 21/02/14 and passed with it being noted that there was surface corrosion on the front and rear subframe mounts.   The inspector told me it would need cleaning off and treating and would be fine for the foreseeable future.

He has been treated to an oil and filter change in Feb 2014 ready for his new home.

I will be genuinely sorry to see him go.   On the occasions I have taken him out. he has received compliments from people old and young and is definitely a head turner!

Now for the serious part….

The car was valued for insurance purposes by Adrian Flux at £4000.   I have therefore set the reserve at £3500 which I believe to be reasonable.

I will not end the auction early as this is not fair to all interested parties so please don't ask as negative replies may offend!

I work shifts but will try to accommodate anyone who wants to view the car.

If you wish to test drive him I will need to see both parts of your driving licence and proof of third party liability on your own policy – I'm not being awkward as this protects both of us. Test drives will be accompanied.

Please feel free to contact me with any question and I will do my best to get back to as quickly as I can.

Payment via Paypal or cash on collection.   I will not deliver the car. meet you halfway or export it outside of the UK.

No returns accepted due to the nature of the item.

Thank you for looking and happy bidding.

Andy
