This is a June delivery yet to be fully completed. from the acclaimed Roadster Salon. Five speed manual transmission. Rare rust free West Coast example. 1984 vintage with rectangular Pininfarina hood badge. Very limited production.

This lovely Spider is fully sorted. and the restoration work is waranteed. Final interior leather color may still be selected prior to delivery.

Please note that this Pininfarina Basso model can be upgraded to a limited production Lusso version. The Lusso features optional luxury equipment. fuel injection. and the look of vintage spiders from the late 1960"s Fiat Spider models. Fewer than five of these special cars are built each year. and all come with a commerative signed plate. Bumpers are cosmetic. and do not meet contemporary 5 mph standards. Current photos and pricing reflect standard version. It may also be upgraded to an Avanzato or Ultimo model as well.

Overview

Our full cosmetic and mechanical restoration process is currently being undertaken. and the end result will be simply stunning. Detailed information about what this process entails can be found on our web site.

While not included in our base price. the Avanti. Premio. and Ultimo leather packages should be considered. Our top high-end interior features premium leather seats. head rests. leather door panels. accents. leather rear wings. hand made leather dash. visors. leather upper and lower console. In keeping with the original theme. vintage premium German loop carpets are included.

The signature Azzurra Blue exterior color. with tan is one of the most popular combinations ever offered on this model. It was the signature marketing combination for the 83-84 model years.

Cosmetic Impressions

Every Roadster Salon car is completely disassembled prior to paint. Body lines are taught. and new metal is used to repair any imperfections. Bead blasting is standard practice on cars without original paint. All are carefully blocked and sanded to a show quality finish. then wet sanded and buffed before being re-assembled. The color combination is ideal for warm climates.

We can't say enough about our leather interior upgrades. Hand crafted by true artisans. these interiors have no equal. All key surfaces are covered by hand with premum leather. sourced from the same supplier that provides leather to Bentley. Each component is cut from matching hydes. No color match issues. Workmanship in same class as Ferrari-Maserati. Bellissimo. Car is available with an optional leather rear seat. which can be added for an upcharge.

Mechanical and Driving Impressions

It is a joy to drive a fully sorted classic Italian convertible. Panel fitment is better than when the car came out of the factory. Engine. transmission and suspension are crisp and tight. A custom made contemporary air conditoning system is an available option.

While all Roadster Salon cars are held to a rigid mechanical standard. note this particular car has the engine out full rebuild option.

Our goal is not to build a $100 K trailer queen. but rather a car that can be casually enjoyed when ever the passion arises. In that regard. our stirring recreations exceed all reasonable expectations. 10/10.

Pricing

Roadster Salon carefully hand crafts about 30 cars per year. detailed to the specifications of each customer.

There recently has been a huge upswing in the classic car market for vintage spiders. with recent sales nearing $50. 00 for restored special interest models.

However. It is important to note that restored automobiles in general should be built for the love and enjoyment of their owners. They are not hugely profitable endeavors--for the builder or reseller. To value a Roadster Salon Spider along side a used Fiat--or measure by a "car guide" is to miss the point of the car entirely.

Considering the quality. workmanship. and warranty. Roadster Salon Spiders are one of the great values in the market today.

What is a Spider Basso?

Firstly. our Spider restorations typically fall into two categories.

Basso. and Avanzato (basic and advanced) Roadster Salon carefully selects candidates for restoration that are already in good overall condition. and meet our critical standards. Cars that require complete top to bottom rehabilitation are set aside for parts use only. Spider Basso models are re-painted in their original color. A color change is optonal at an addtional $2500.

All Roadster Salon cars are fully disassembled before paint. Interiors are refurbished. including new upholstery. carpets. door panels and console. A new convertible top is professionally installed.

Please see our web site for a complete list of mechanical items addressed in Basso models. Wear items like tires. brakes. and shocks are always replaced. Other key items inspected and repaired/replaced are fuel system. cooling system. suspension. transmission. timing belt. and engine gaskets and seals. Engine compartments are tidy. but not detailed to Avanzato standards. The Avanzato model base price is $39. 90. Ultimo base price is $57. 95.
