1917 Dodge Brothers Touring Car.   Runs and drives good.   I have owned it for about a year and have enjoyed using it around town. in local parades. and even took it on a 90 mile round trip and it did just fine!  The tires look brand new. the brakes work and the engine starts right up and sounds good and doesn't smoke.   This has been a fun car to use with the family and is a strong running vehicle. but I am out of space and ready to focus on other projects.   I have included two links to videos where you can see the car starting and driving:

This car is listed as a 1917 on the title. and based on the serial number it was made in late 1917.  It does have an aluminum transmission and wood fellows (rims).  It's quite possible that a few parts that may have been replaced over the last 97 years with a car of the same vintage but slightly different year.    The previous owner told me that the engine was from a 1923-1924. but other than the position where the fan mounts to the block it's virtually identical.   As such. this is definitely not a candidate for a "show car" without doing some research. but it looks good as-is and needs everything or nothing. depending on your preference!  This would be a wonderful parade or tour vehicle and you can have fun enjoying it as you are working on anything.

This car starts. runs. and drives.  Although I have been using and enjoying it as-is. there are a few things that may not be apparent in the photos as follows:

1) Missing Speedometer Cable.
2) Missing Spare Tire Carrier.
3) Has Top Irons (Sockets) but missing top bows and material (has a canvas covered frame to give the appearance that the top is folded down).
4) Paint is original or an older repaint and has nicks. scratches. dings. and chips.
5) Fenders have some stress cracks that could be welded up.
6) Upholstery is all there for patterns (might be original. especially the door panels!) but needs to be redone.
7) Lights not working but appear to be all there. not sure if it needs new wiring or just bulbs.
8) Right Headlight Lens doesn't match left and is cracked. held in with wire.
9) Transmission leaks from the front seal.   Motor. Rear End. and Waterpump don't seem to have any major leaks!

These are my opinions about the car and I've tried to explain anything I could think of that a buyer may want to be aware of.   However. you may have different opinions than I do. and I welcome and encourage you to ask any questions. request photos. or come see and inspect the vehicle before making your bid.   Since this car is approaching 100 years old. it is sold as-is. where is with no warranty or guarantee.

The successful bidder should contact me within 24 hours of the end of the auction.   A non-refundable $500 deposit will be due within 48 hours (we can work out something if you want to mail this) and the balance of purchase price will be due in cashiers check or cash and all funds must clear the bank before the car leaves my possession.   Buyer is responsible for shipping arrangements and costs. but I will be happy to work with your shipping company however I am able.

On Feb-16-14 at 13:48:24 PST. seller added the following information:

** NOTE:  Forgot to call out that the windshield is plexi-glass (plastic) .   Very good for patterns and serves the purpose just fine. but not glass.   Also. speaking with a few local experts we have determined that the body is likely a 1920-1921 based on the raked windshield and way the rear fenders mount.   The serial number on the floor board and California title list it as a 1917. so it likely has been built/repaired over the years with various interchangeable parts from the same vintage.   However. it all fits together as original. is enjoyable. useable. and "authentic looking" just as-is.   It might not be the car for a purist Dodge expert wanting a 95+ year old "numbers matching" car or someone looking to win best of show at the next concours. but it is a lot of fun and a great family touring car for local cruises. and weekend trips!
