1979 Pontiac Trans Am Anniversary Edition 400/4-speed Survivor
1979 marked the 10 th Anniversary of the Trans Am. and a special anniversary package was made available: silver paint lower paint (with gray upper paint accents) with a silver leather interior. The 10 th Anniversary cars also featured a special Firebird hood decal. which extended off of the hood and onto the front fenders. Pontiac produced 7. 00 10 th Anniversary cars. of which 1. 17 were equipped with the Pontiac 400 engine (and coupled with the 4 speed Borg Warner Super T-10 transmission). The only option on these cars was the engine (the 400 was not certified for California. nor was cruise control available with it). which dictated the transmission and the gear ratio (3. 23 on the 400 cars).
This car is one of these rare and highly desirable Trans Am ever made.
Everything on this car operates as it should even the clock is operational and keeps perfect time.
It starts. runs and drives like it did when it rolled off the production line 34 years ago.
Even the A/C still blows ice cold.
This car is a true survivor. unrestored and retains all of its original paint.
There are a few minor imperfections in the paint on the nose piece and rear spoiler.
I chose to leave them as is rather than have them painted to maintain the originality of the car.
The engine paint was professionally touched up without removing it from the car.
Other than that. there have been no accidents. no modifications. no rust. no paint work. and no excuses! You will not find a better low mile car anywhere for the money.
