1980 Land Rover Lightweight taxed & MOT'd ready for winter fun.

Here we have the very reluctant sale of my 1980 LightWeight.   I am selling it as my wife says I have too many toys and in particular Land Rovers.

For the last 3 years I have owned it and it has been a regular at the military shows with the Norfolk Military Vehicle Group and has been maintained and is well known by JSF of Norwich. It has had some modifications to make it more practical for everyday use but it maintains its military character. If you are looking for something refined and comfortable it is not the vehicle for you. However if you want something which is a bit of a beast. is big on fun that will go anywhere. has 6 seats and turns heads then this  might be the one for you.

It is MOT'd to 2nd July 2014 and taxed until 31st July 2014

This vehicle was released from the military in 2002 and I understand that it spent its life in Cyprus prior to that.

The Registration is not included but is separately negotiable if required otherwise it will have a new registration for the relevant year. Please note that in the pictures there is a show plate on the front of the vehicle.

Work that has been done

2. 5 NA turbo diesel fitted - from a 1985 Land Rover 90

Fairey Overdrive – will cruise at 60 / 70 mph

Range Rover Diffs

Rewired from 24v to 12v.

Parabolic springs with 2” lift

ES9000 pro comp shocks

X engineering disc trans brake

Ashcroft low range box

Ryders 9000 winch

Snorkel

4 very recent tyres on Discovery steel rims which have covered approx. 2k miles

New clutch

Exterior Respray in drab olive green with a finish midway between matt and satin.

Replacement of wheel cylinders and brake shoes

New Battery

To my knowledge it has never been welded and mostly still has its military under seal. The only negative things I am aware of is a bit of smoke on initial start-up which soon clears (I am told this is quite common) and a leak from the gearbox. On the last MOT there was an advisory that the front swivel joint dust covers were split. Also the left hand fuel tank needs replacing. this has never concerned me as I have always used the right hand tank.

Once the auction ends please ensure the vehicle is paid for before or upon collection. Happy bidding.
