This Interceptor was put into storage back in 2006 and has just now reemerged. I was looking for a project car to restore with my two sons. Although I've always loved the Jensen Interceptor convertible. it was not the "project" we were searching for. The car was literally in a barn but had not been left unattended because once we charged the battery the car fired right up. The man who sold it is 96 years old and had owned the car at least since the year 2000. It's worth noting the prior owner is very wealthy and clearly loved this car.  The original factory exterior color was white but it was repainted some time ago in the British Racing Green. The color change was meticulously done to where finding any signs of the original color required thorough searching. The body is very straight and only has a couple of  very minor rust bubbles. I appears the car had previously had the rear wheels arches repaired from rust using lead and it is nearly undetectable. The repair areas are also very minor. It is fair to say this car has never been subjected to a harsh environment and has always been well cared for. The undercarriage is very clean and retains the original factory undercoating along with the burlap wrapped rear leaf springs. The tan top is in very nice condition and functions perfectly.  The Magnolia leather interior is quite presentable with only minor needs.  The seats are soft and free of tears or signs of heavy wear. All the trim and hardware is complete with the exception of the rear driver side seat belt storage compartment lid. The dashboard has been partially covered in vinyl but the center stack raised portion retains the original factory leather which is torn and needs to be replaced. The lower wood panel on the center stack just below the radio has some failure with the varnish and needs to be redone and the carpets show signs of wear.  Overall the interior looks very complete with the most important and costly components in very presentable condition. As stated previously. the engine instantly roared to life as soon as the key was turned. There were no colors emitting from the exhaust from rust. oil or water which is why I feel the car was never just parked and forgotten. Under the hood the engine has a very fresh but older coat of orange paint which supports the claim the engine had been rebuilt shortly before it was placed in storage. The air filter assembly and the air conditioning system are nowhere to be found but everything else appears to be in order. The brakes are mostly functional with the exception of the right front inboard piston refusing to respond much to our efforts to get it moving freely. Hopefully. that will get resolved with time. patience and solvents before the completion of the auction.  Overall this car presents well as a "driver" and would be elevated to a much higher standard if the above issues are addressed. If desired. this car could be lightly restored to show car standards given it's relatively minor list of flaws. My research since becoming the proud owner has indicated the values of the Interceptor convertible are rapidly on the rise to an extent that the value guides are out dated as soon as they are printed. I urge any interested person to do some homework if you have not followed the market recently.
I have some practical conditions on the sale which will hopefully eliminate the drawbacks created by false bidders so please be aware if you honestly want to win this auction. I will NOT accept bids from buyers without a PayPal account. I will cancel any bid if it has less than a 20 rating unless they contact me first. I will also cancel any bid I deem to be suspicious. I require a $1000 PayPal deposit upon the close of the auction or I will begin the process of listing the car thereby negating the sale. I hope any serious bidder can appreciate I am trying to make this a clean fair transaction for all who participate.
I am a very honest and value my integrity more than the value of any car. so I encourage you to contact me prior to bidding for an accurate and candid evaluation of this wonderful car. My name is Barney and my direct email is bpmfla@comcast. net
