An entirely California Car - no body rust.  Car is licensed and registered in California but in “non-operational” status. easily converted to operational.  I've owned the car since the early 80's and have most of the receipts as well as repair manual and owner's manual. all included.  A factory certified French mechanic did a lot of the early work on this car. but not to my liking.  I am selling the car because I am now a senior citizen and for quite awhile have simply lacked the desire and time to undertake the mechanical work and maintenance involved with it.  I have three kids in high school who will soon be going to college. along with too much of my savings.  My substitute mechanical hobby is motor scooters. something that doesn't involve any “heavy lifting. ”  There is an excellent Yahoo group devoted specifically to this car - “Sport-Maserati-L. providing invaluable service and repair information.
Engine is sound.  Rebuilt professionally several years ago and only a few thousand miles on it since then. if that.  New pistons. rings etc.  Though it sits for weeks at a time it starts quite easily as shown in the included video.  Has two electronic ignition units. one for each of the two-in-one distributors.  Has worked fine for years.  Fifth gear is non-operational.  I have been told that the gear has stripped its splines and turns freely on the shaft.  However. the car includes a second 5 speed that I bought many years ago for this reason but have never installed.  I have tested it to the extent of turning the main shaft by hand with a wrench and engaging all the gears.  It turned freely without any “skips. ”  In order to do the transmission diagnosis the beautiful aluminum brake ducts and the front under-panel were removed (will be included with the car) and I have not reinstalled them thinking that one day I would get to the transmission replacement. which hasn't happened.  Radial A/C compressor installed and has worked for years but no A/C now (last year or so). likely needs recharging after some 10 years or so of use. or something similar.
Relatively recently I experienced a leak in the oil cooler and replaced it with one from a Volvo that is almost exactly the same size.  However the lines to it were different sized.  I have temporarily cobbled together the two lines with an adapter and clamps.  It works but is not ready for LeMans.
Dash and headliner are perfect. but covering on pillars is shot.  Driver's seat broke years ago and has been repaired securely by brazing.  I never put it back in because the leather upholstery is shot and a decision is needed on replacing it with something. which decision I never made.  I have it all for those who wish to reproduce the seat in leather upholstery or otherwise.  I put the passenger seat in place of the driver's seat. though it is slightly different.
Tires are as good as new. Pirelli P4000 205/70. a “V” series tire good for sustained speeds in excess of 130 mph.  Car is not concours but is functional and in pretty good shape overall.  There are a relatively minor faults like needing a proper wheel alignment so the self centering steering is perfectly centered.  Spheres work but are not perfect.  LMH fluid has been used exclusively in the suspension.   I had to do substantial re-wiring due to severe corrosion within the copper wiring under the insulation.  It all works though some items have never worked or have failed completely. like the dash light dimmer and the dash clock.  Passenger window gear was replaced with metal one.  I have the original radio which worked when removed plus a modern replacement that also works.  I have all the aerial parts and even the electrics that originally controlled the aerial.  I have kept many of the parts that failed and were replaced. that might be of use to a rebuilder.  Sold "as-is. "  Local Pick-up only.  Cashier's Check
