Chassis Number: A3504076-0DHS0Craner Classics proudly presents the Sunbeam Mk 3 Sliding Head Sports Saloon. This Sunbeam was first registered in 1956, the first year of manufacture of the Mark 3 Sunbeam, and was marketed as a sports car for the family man. It's powered by a beautifully-balanced twin-carburettor, 4-cylinder 2267cc engine, and it has very strong pulling power indeed - it positively whizzes along! The car has no problem whatsoever keeping up with even fast-moving modern traffic. A Mk III tested by The Motor magazine in 1955 had a top speed of 93.6 mph. That capable engine is paired with a 4-speed column-change gearbox which functions flawlessly to give reassuringly strong acceleration.A measure of the prestige attached to this model is the fact that Cary Grant owned one of these for several years. The bodywork on this particular example is first-rate, in its stylish colour combination of beige and maroon. This car has clearly had thousands upon thousands lavished on it, including a refurbished interior which is truly breathtaking and in near-perfect condition, right down to the roof lining and armrests front and back. Thanks to the its beautifully presented art deco-style dashboard, the interior is a work of art in itself. The maroon-piped cream interior and brand new deep red carpets give the car a very exclusive and luxurious look and feel. And it really is as comfortable as it looks to ride in and drive, especially with the powerful engine. In keeping with the sporty feel, the car has been fitted with a stainless steel exhaust, giving it durability but also a very sporty sound. The brakes have just been overhauled all round with new parts, and to top it all, the car comes with recent new retro tyres, so all in all our Sunbeam drives as was intended all those years ago.In this type of condition, even with all the time and expense given to it, it's difficult to believe this car was built more than sixty years ago.The combination of immaculate coachwork, fabulous interior and superb running order of its powerful engine together make for an absolutely outstanding tribute to a glorious era of motoring. At this price we expect demand to be very high for a vehicle of this quality, so urge interested parties to call us direct rather than email. An absolute steal at £11,995.
