Description1953 Packard Executive 8-Passenger SedanListed on behalf of the owner.Located in PORTLAND, OREGON For 1953, Packard re-introduced formal automobiles to their line with the limited production of the "Executive" model. Built around their top-of-the-line "Patrician," each Executive model was custom-bodied by Henney Motor Company in Freeport, Illinois. The stock Packard chassis was lengthened to a 149" wheelbase, with the body also stretched, giving each finished Executive an overall length of 20 feet from bumper-to-bumper. This style, number 2651 is an 8-passenger design with seating for 3 up front, 3 in the rear, along with two folding jump seats. This style does not have a limousine division window between the front and rear compartment. Front seat is adjustable.This is car #73 of just 100 built. In Oregon from new, this particular automobile saw service originally as a "family car" at a funeral home in the small town of McMinnville, about 50 miles southwest of Portland. It was then purchased by well-known Packard collector, Julian Eccles of Klamath Falls, Oregon, who sold it in the early 1980's to Portland collector and dealer, Monte Shelton. In 1985, it was purchased by the current owner, a prominent collector and long-time member of the Packard Club and Classic Car Club of America. Over the past 36 years it has been enjoyed regularly for club tours and events. Always maintained by a personal mechanic who has looked after all details of the car and provided regular service as needed. During current ownership this car received a full repaint in correct 1953 Packard "Meridian Blue Metallic" which shows beautifully today. Body is straight and accident-free, with no rust. Chrome and trim are bright and in excellent condition. Interior was reupholstered in correct blue wool broadcloth in correct pattern and stitching. Original gray wool headliner in exceptional condition. Power windows were fully rebuilt and work perfectly. No leaks. All gauges work and register accurately. Original steering wheel in excellent condition. Heaters and defroster work. The clock and front and rear radios are present but are not functioning at present. All weatherstripping was replaced. Trunk is dry and solid with original floor mat. Spare tire.PLEASE SEE PHOTOS WHICH WERE JUST TAKEN FOR THIS LISTING AND SHOW CURRENT CONDITION. Mechanically excellent. The original 327 cubic inch straight 8 engine has been impeccably maintained. Under current ownership the heads and manifolds were removed, internals checked and found to be in excellent condition throughout, reflecting the limited use this car has received over the years. Current mileage is 81,400; an average of less than 1,200 miles per year over the past 68 years. Engine is smooth and quiet. 180 horsepower. Runs cool. Optima battery for quick starts. With Packard Ultramatic transmission that shifts properly and Packard power steering, it maneauvers easily in traffic and when parking and is a pleasure to drive. Easily keeps up with modern freeway traffic. Power brakes stop smooth and straight. Radial tires. Truly a top-of-the-line motoring experience in 1953, and today.PLEASE SEE VIDEO OF ENGINE RUNNING. There is little to add. Few of these Executive Sedans were built and even fewer survive today.
