Manufactured by Standard Triumph in 1964 and assembled in Durban, South Africa this Spitfire has spent 55 years in a warm dry climate and has never seen a salted road. This has resulted in a rust free body which has undergone a full body off, nut and bolt restoration using original refurbished parts where possible and new parts supplied from UK. The car has since covered less than 500 miles and is still in showroom condition. With all import duties paid and now UK registered this is one of the best of the 20 Mk 1 Spitfires listed as on the road in the UK. The bodywork is finished in white with new black upholstery and black carpets and as the photographs show the underside of the car is as spotless as the top. The original 1147 cc engine and gearbox have been rebuilt and the car drives suberbly. new 13'' wood rim steering wheel is currently installed but the original 16'' Triumph wheel is included in the sale. The tyres are all new and the wheels are still fitted with the car's original polished aluminium wheels trims. In addition to the hood and tonneau cover there is a removable black Lenham hard top. The car is registered as an historic vehicle and is Road Tax, ULEZ and MOT exempt but will have a 12 month MOT for the new owner and is a potential show winner for next seasons events.
