Ultimate Classic mini Clubman VTEC 1970 tax free very very fast for sale

The Ultimate Classic Mini - 160BHP VTEC - 1970. historic. tax free - Dove Grey with a glass black roof.

The car is MOT'd until 15/5/15 and taxed until may 2015. although its a historic vehicle and tax free.

I bought this mini last summer and I'm only the 3rd owner and I have spent a fortune getting this car to look as good as it goes and it really goes!

I've got a change of circumstances and now have a baby on the way so a 2 seater pocket rocket isn't really practical enough.

The car has just had a full respray in 2k Dove Grey with a gloss black roof and match gloss black miglia Miglia arches.

The wheels are 13" x 5. 5" classic Period Rostyles from an Opel that I had shipped from Germany as the hubs have been changed to 100mm PCD. The wheels were then professionally refurbished by AP wheels and the fitted with 4 brand new maxxis victra MAZR1 tyres.

It has a removable 2 piece fibreglass front end and the bonnet is genuine carbon fibre with flush fitted bonnet pins. which was painted to match the body colour to keep the old school sleeper style I was going for.

The engine is a B16a2 from a crx/ del sol. although the clocks say 98296 it is actual fact a lot less. the is due to the rolling radius of the wheel being less than the original factory 15" wheels. The engine was professionally fitted by Coventry classic minis and was built using an SAE subframe. The gearbox is a B18c LSD which offers a shorter ratio for better acceleration and reduced torque steer. The VTEC engages around 6-6. 6k revs but if you blink youll miss it as it loves to rev and will happily do so past 9k.

As seen in the pictures. the engine has been fitted with a Skunk rocker cover and the exhaust manifold has been wrapped. A performance air filter and engine breathers have been fitted along side a brand new fully alloy performance radiator. The original ECU and loom was used so the VTEC works as it should and could be mapped to come in earlier if required. ( it really isn't needed but always an option) I have fitted a twin exit stainless steel exhaust. that although is quiet on idle has a lovely raspy note when you so much as touch the throttle with your little toe.

The car is sitting on coil overs all round with spax dampers. adjustable arms. new tie rods. new rosejoints. new track rod ends. new front hubs and new poly bushes. The suspension was recently set up by Watsons Rally of wakefield and for those not familiar with their work they are the originators of the VTEC mini conversions and vast mini racing experience.

The brakes have been uprated to handle the extra power and it now runs with Minisports 4 pot calipers. goodridge braided lines with vented and grooved discs on the front and superfin rear drums and spacers on the rear.

The car has had new rubbers all round. new handles and escutcheons all round. new sill and gutter trims. new bullet wing mirrors with one off colour coded mounts and a new Monza style filler cap.

The car is fitted with a comprehensive full welded in roll cage with rear cross beams. door beams and dash beams. nbsp;painted in VW mars red. . I think this really complements the grey and black colour scheme. The seats are full vinyl Cobra Monaca S buckets with adjustable mini subframes and have contrasting black 4 point Securon safety harnesses fitted. The original floor sound proofing was replaced with more lightweight modern sound proofing and the doors were also sound proofed behind the doorcards. The door cards are carbon fibre that has been wrapped in black vinyl to give a more luxurious feel. (not that its luxurious as it was built for speed) I also fitted an insulated and sound proofed carpet that was originally in an MPI. This just makes it a little nicer inside and has reduces the road noise quite a lot.

It runs off a standard fuel tank but it has a swirl pot and fuel pump fitted in the boot to ensure a constant supply of the correctly pressurised fuel even under hard acceleration and cornering.

The car is absolutely rust free and sailed through the last MOT. with only 2 minor advisories. One the rear wheel bearing. which was rectified immediately after the MOT as the garage had forgot to do it before they tested it. The second is slight play in the upper steering wheel bearing. which I had never noticed and still haven't.

This is seriously fast car in its own right. given that it has 160bph and weighs roughly half a ton the power to weight ratio is in the region of 320bhp per ton and in super car territory. if you have driven fast minis before. this is in another league. I have breezed past a modern Cooper S like it was standing still in 4th gear without even getting to 6k revs. confused the life out of a focus RS driver when he couldn't over take me and left a 1430 mini running race fuel for dead.

As far as reliability it goes. its a Honda engine and as long as you keep it serviced it will run until the end of time. I recently drove it on the London to Brigton run from Sheffield and it was faultless. I think I may have a video of us going through the Dartford tunnel somewhere if you want to hear the exhaust note.

My other half wont go near the thing as it is and now I've a baby on the way the chances I'm going to get to make the most of it will be very limited. I'd really like to see it go to a good home where someone will really be able to use it to its full potential.

No expense has been spared on this and if you would like to build one yourself then you would be looking at way more than the asking price to achieve the same.

No time wasters. dreamers. tire kickers or stupid low offers please. if you just want to go for a ride in a fast car then go test drive a Porsche or something. serious bidders for a serious car.

I have set the starting price reasonably high as there is a reserve and I want serious bidders.

I will require a deposit of £100 within 1 hour of the auction ending and collection by the end of the following week.

I happy for the buyer to pay with cash or paypal.

No warranty is offered or implied.

Any questions and viewings please ask.

Dale
