The Mercedes SL class traditionally was never known for being the fastest. best handling. sports car on the market.   However. they were always known for being well-built cars that were great fun on long drives and incredibly reliable.   Toward the end of the R107 Chassis life. Mercedes produced the 560SL.   This was considered the best of the SLs thus far.   I’ve experienced several of these cars over the years and I always get the same comment from the owners… “this is one of the best cars I have ever owned. ”

This SL was purchased new at the beginning of 1987 to a Mercedes enthusiast.   This owner pampered the car and only used it lightly in the summer.   As a result. by 2006. the car only had 67. 00 miles on it.   He then sold it to a friend who lived in Arizona.   This owner used it as a 3rd car for weekend cruising.   They soon realized that the car wasn’t getting used enough. so they sold it last year to their friend in Southern California.  

In the past 2. 00 miles. over $5. 00 was invested making this a really great driving car.   The following repairs were performed:

Power steering hoses and power steering flush

New fuel injectors and seals/sensors/relays

New hood pad

Replaced timing chain tensioner/guide rails on left side

New battery

Replace A/C compressor. drier. expansion valve. convert to R134a. and flush system

Dash cover

The paint looks fantastic with very few signs of use.   There are some light nicks on the front due to driving. but pretty minor considering the age and miles.   All the rubber. bright work. and lenses look fantastic and give proof to the fact that this car was garaged its entire life.   The tires are old and do need to be replaced.   The interior is equally as nice with no tears or rips on the upholstery.   The leather is still soft with just some minor scuffing on the exit bolsters.   The original wool carpet looks great and hardly used.   The headliner of both the pagoda top and soft-top look like new.   The dash has several cracks but is not noticeable with the new dash cover that was professionally installed.   The original soft top looks like it was rarely used.   There are no tears. rips. or wear marks.   There are a couple of marks on the body next to where the top attaches on the passenger side.   It looks like someone misaligned the latch when installing the hardtop (see pics).    It is not visible with the hardtop installed. Everything works properly including the clock. the original Becker radio. and the A/C.

This Mercedes comes complete with all books. owners metal tags. spare tire. jack. first-aid kit. recent receipts. original window-sticker. and an extra key.
