Howdy: I am a 1980 Chevy Square Body one ton 4x4 with a dump / grain / stock bed. Please read between the lines to save us both time and money. 406- I was purchased in Plains Montana in 1980 my one and only owner ordered me as a cab and chassis. 261-Then drove me to Amsterdam Montana to have the bed custom built. 5323 This is the longest trip I have ever been on. Spent the rest of my 41 years in Ronan Mt. I was never driven over 55 till this guy that now has me brought me to Kalispell. Now I know I am capable of 70 mph but am much happier at 65. I am a bit sluggish on the hills but I have not had a tune up in 41 years. This is the same reason I cough and smoke a bit till warmed up. Plus I still have some 1990 gas in both of my tanks. Hope to get an owner that knows how to clean a carb and adjust my choke. An update on points and plugs, cap and rotor would be nice too. I have spent most of my life in a barn you can tell from the pictures I never spent a day in the sun. Part of the barn collapse, I do have a small dent in my left front fender shown in the pictures. Also as a result the bottom half of my drivers door was repainted however you can only tell when I am in just the right sun light. Also there are spots in my paint that I rather not talk about, had to do with the pigeons in the barn.

There is very little wrong with me it's unbelievable that I exist is such condition unrestored. The only rust you can find on me is around my shackle springs it ain't worth mentioning. However look at the pictures you can still see the original shackle sticker from the factory. Show me an unrestored model that still has this? Most of my kind were used hard and put away wet we were work trucks, the heart beat of America. From a time left behind and almost forgotten. When men were proud to be men and not afraid to work. I am equipped with great features like a P.T.O. That's a power take off for you young 'ens. Also have an in windshield antana I was one of the first years to have this feature. My dimmer switch is on the floor were it should be and ran by foot power. And yes I do have A/C it's called a wind wing just crack it open and air instantly blows right on you. And if that ain't enough my windows roll down quickly and easily.

My dumpbed was $6995.00 installed back in 1980. Now adays if you could find someone even willing to build it. They would be 6 to 8 months out and with todays lumber and metal prices the cost would be $12,000 to $15,000 installed. Hard to believe but that is the times we live in.

I am a blast from the past jumping in my perfect condition seats is truly a trip in a time machine, the rough ride, the loud blinker that blinks at half the speed as todays models, 350 engine, four speed tranny with granny low, transfer case that you shift by hand on the floor with it's own stick not to mention the belt squeal sound when you turn me all the way, either way a common sound in all square bodies.

What am I worth in dollars? I am priceless to some others not so much. Really depends on who you talk to? This ring ding that now owns me will be putting me on a very well know auction sight that starts with an E and ends with a Y. Even thow he hates this sight it is the best place to advertise such a true survivor as I.

I want to stay in Montana even thow I belong in a museum. So I had a talk with this dip shit that owns me and he agreed to put local adds up to let Montana's know I was up for sale.

There are only a couple things on me that are not stock. Fog lights, runn 'en lights my radio and of course the dump bed. This half asser that owns me will sell me with or with out the bed. If you are someone that wants to put me back to original (cab and chassis) then he will pull the bed off. Believe me very few Cab and Chassis's were made and very few survived. I would be willing to bet none are around with original paint and 36,000 original miles. So I feel the bed devalues me. My current owner agrees that is why the option with or without the bed is on the table.

I have decent tires all my fluids are up to snuff. Aside from a tune up and carb cleaning I am ready for the long haul. Have a great day folks or the best day you can in this god awful 21st century. Makes me wish I was back in the barn.
