Triumph Stag for sale
Current customer rating:
1973 Triumph Stag in black with black interior and black soft/hard tops. Original Triumph engine with Holley carb. Manual with O/D. 67 k miles, bare
metal
respray
in 2014 and all the usual Stag mechanical mods, new
interior, etc . H istoric tax status and MOT exempt but has
clean MOT until April 2022. Maintained by Stag specialist with no
expense
spared. Not driven in winter and kept in a car coon. Looks and drives great and very
reliable.
I have owned the car since 2014 and bought the car as a decent tidy enough
drivable
Stag for part restoration. I decided on a bare metal
respray
and while car was solid enough I had new inner sills and floor pans as they needed sorting. The hard top was also re sprayed. The interior was then
refreshed
with new seat cushions and covers, door cards, T Bar cover, the
proper
Stag
seatbelts , BT radio and rear speakers, carpets and mats. I also upgraded to a walnut dash. Mechanically the car was ok but I had the timing chains done as they can be an issue and added a back up Kenlowe cooling fan (car already had a rad upgrade). The part
restoration
is now 7 years old
but
the car remains in top condition. I have only done c.5 K miles it it in 7 years and it
rarely
sees the rain. It' s always been run on super unleaded and had
regular
oil and filter changes, along with annual MOTs (despite it being MOT exempt). The car carries strong oil pressure and never overheats but its nice to have the Kenlowe as back up. The overdrive works in 3 rd/4 th as it should. Everything electrical works as it should.
In my ownership it has been maintained by a renowned Stag specialist and in the last 3 years I have spent c.£7 k on it including: new propshaft recondition diff polybushes / ball joints new distributor with built in electronic ignition new HT leads fuel system overall (pump, fuel lines, breather pipes etc) new battery upgraded cooling system (thermostat, expansion system, hoses etc) carb overhaul brake discs and pads. I also treated it to some brand new wheels and the tyres are a year old.
As such the car is in excellent condition and I have a recent valuation to match this. Any test welcome.
I have a thick file of old receipts, MOTs etc and the Heritage Certificate from the BMIHT. 2 sets of keys and manuals.
In terms of what the new owner might want to do:- the bumper chrome is fine but has some pitting and wear. I personally don't like over shiny chrome on classics but some people do. The soft top and frame is absolutory fine and has some small holes but I rarely drive it with the top up so has never bothered me. I never use the hard top but it is in good shape. The purist might want to re fit Strombergs but I have never seen the point and the Holley is great.
I own a few classics and IMO this is a great Stag with all the hard work done and ready to be enjoyed in the long term.
I am only selling as I have too many cars and don't use it much these days. I genuinely hope it goes to a new owner who will enjoy the car as much as I have.
I am happy to answer any more questions, please
