1960 Westfield Eleven (Lotus Replica)

Owned by my Uncle Terry, who lives in France and has been stuck there for two years due to Covid. He would normally visit us every summer to bumble around in it, but health reasons and restrictions on travel have forced him to sell. Also, it is rather difficult to get in and out of at his age…sorry Terry it's true!

I have looked after this car for him personally over the last 5 years. It is brilliant to drive and always puts a beaming grin on your face.

It was built with no expense spared from a 1959 Austin Healey Sprite meaning that the vehicle benefits from a pre-tax and pre-mot registration.

The last owner had the engine rebuilt by MG Mecca, who are extremely helpful and know the cars history very well. The first owner who paid for the build originally intended it to be a hillclimb/sprint car, hence the  careful build and 1959 reg to avoid a roll cage when competing. He didn't treat the engine well, and this is why the last owner that Terry purchased it from, paid for a complete rebuild (this is also why the speedo was reset).

We have heaps of documentation and receipts for the work done, and you can see from the pictures that the car is in very good condition. I always like to see the underneath of a car before I buy, so the pictures on the local garage ramp were taken so you can get an idea of the standard!

It has been professionally built to a very high standard and is as near perfection as can be.

The Westfield Eleven is a replica of the famous Lotus Eleven, built and successfully raced by Lotus in the late 1950's. Westfield's excellent replica was the first car built by Westfield Cars, which later made Lotus 7 look-alike cars.

This model has the best of the two body style options offered so it has the classic "Le Mans" hump behind the driver's head. Although a spitting image of the Lotus original, the chassis, suspension and powertrain are completely different. The chassis was designed to take many of the parts from the MG Midget or Austin Healy Sprite, and the (1275 A-series), gearbox 4-speed, modified back axle and prop-shaft, brakes, wheels, instruments, pedal box, steering rack and mounts and various suspension parts. The rest of the car (including chassis, wiring harness, radiator, battery, seats, trim etc. was purchased new from Westfield. This little car is a delight to drive, turns heads anywhere and is in an as new condition.  V5 and all papers, bills etc are with Terry's car.
