1969 Saab 96

Barn find Saab 96, ready for a new owner, being sold "As-Is." I'm making this listing for my elderly mother who parked the car in her garage in Fresno CA 12 years ago and there it has sat ever since. Here is the full history and details: She purchased this car from Paul Perry at the Saab Factory in San Jose, back in 1995. At that time it had been stored indoors (always a CA car) and he had bought it intending to keep it himself, and had already gone through and repaired everything that it needed (rubber pieces, hydraulics, etc). The car at that time was pristine, and even won 1st place at the Kirkwood CA Saab Convention for "Best Saab 96 Daily Driver." Fast forward 26 years and here is where it stands now... As mentioned, it is a true CA car and as far as is known has always been garaged. It was maintained well (almost exclusively by the Saab Factory) up until storage 10 years ago, with the only modification being an electric radiator fan being added. At one point the transmission was rebuilt at the Saab Factory but the details are lost to time. Here are the known issues: Right side dents (see photo, uninsured driver hit her and it was never repaired). Also a trunk dent (again see photo). When parked there were two known mechanical problems, one was what I recall being the clutch slave cylinder was leaking and needed replacement/rebuild. Another was the day before storing the car the driver side door latch refused to stay shut (no visible damage, it shuts fine, but it won't stay closed and needs to be repaired before driving the car). Included in the sale will be a pair of later year door reinforcement bars, a Saab repair manual (factory?), and the owners manual. She has the clear CA title in hand, as well as the keys for the car. IMPORTANT: This car must be towed (flat bed) from the location (Fresno, CA), without the current owner's assistance (we will be there). We can tie the driver side door shut so it doesn't open during transport, but please assume the car will not start and that the tires will not hold air. Will it start? We do not want to try because this really should be done after proper prepping of the engine after sitting so long. Will the tires hold air? That's possible/probable but not promised. ALSO IMPORTANT: This car must be picked up during a short window of time, I apologize for this but it is unavoidable. Please arrange transport to pick it up between September 25th and September 29th (2021). If you are the winning bidder you are agreeing to pick up the car during these days. If not picked up between 9/25-9/29 the sale will be voided (the deposit is non-refundable).The title is in hand, and once the balance owed is paid (cash or cashier's check ONLY) it will be given to the new owner. If you wish to do this before picking up the car this we will fedex the title upon final payment, or if you wish you can pay the balance and we can hand over the title when you pick up the car.Summary: The car has not started in 10 years, assume a flat bed tow is needed. The car is in Fresno California and must be picked up between 9/25-9/29 (we are flying out there during these dates). Please do not bid if you can not accept these conditions.
