FOR SALE

A beautiful rare Saab 96L V4 Souvenir (117/150) with just 37. 07 miles and four owners.

EQUIPMENT
Rigid shell with steel beams. deformation zones. door mirrors. rear arch protectors. Saab mud flaps. rear opening windows. side window air deflectors. freewheel leaver. door mounted ashtrays. heated rear screen. interior light. boot light. lockable glove box. passenger front grab handle. two waste paper baskets. folding rear seats. high output heater. side window defroster nozzles. span >
safety steering wheel. neck support headrests. Saab clock. 117/150 dash mounted Souvenir plaque. hazard lights. rheostat-controlled instrument lighting.

EXTERIOR
Finished in luscious Cardinal Red. a colour unique to the Souvenir. this Saab looks amazing.   The smooth body shape has a shiny metallic fleck with only a small mark to the nearside rear arch and three small bonnet dings.   The impact absorbing bumpers with chrome inserts are unmarked and all seven exterior badges remain intact.   Glass all round is perfect and Saab branded.   The important driver and passenger plastic side window wind deflectors are still fitted.   Correct metal number plates are fitted front and rear.   A wonderful example of a very rare edition.

INTERIOR
Exclusive red nylon fabric seats with black leatherette edging remain preserved thanks in part to the careful ownership and very low miles.   Matching red thick nylon carpets on the almost flat floor are unworn but slightly faded on the edges.   All the door cards. roof lining and rear parcel shelf are perfect but both ‘B' pillar covering is cracked midway.   The crystal clear large gauges all function correctly as do all other interior controls.   Amazingly the starting instructions are still found attached to the passenger sun visor.   The important Souvenir plaque numbering this car as 117 of only 150 made reminds the driver the historical importance of being one of the final Saab 96 cars ever made.   Delightful.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The 4 cylinder in Vee with a 1498 cubic capacity produces 65bhp and a healthy 115Nm of torque meaning modern travel is fun.   A purposeful deep exhaust note created from the V4 is a pleasurable and distinguishing characteristic.   Simple mechanics. excellent access and abundant parts supply of this Ford derived unit will keep maintenance costs low.   A column mounted 4-speed gearbox is intuitive and allows spirited progress.   A free-wheel lever is located under the facia and when engaged allows changing down rapidly without declutching and extremely low fuel consumption.

WHEELS. TYRES & BRAKES
‘Wide base' steel disc wheels with Saab chrome hubcaps are unmarked and shod in Michelin MX 155 R15 tyres all-round.   The hydraulic servo-assisted brake system is split diagonally into two independent circuits and offers immense stopping power allowing the vehicle to be enjoyed in free-wheeling mode.

HISTORY FILE

Supplied new by John Wilkins Motor Engineers Ltd. Saab Agents in Cheltenham to a Miss K. M. Burke on the 7th March 1977 it remained in her care and maintained by the same Saab Dealer for the next 20 years.   A stamped service card and annual MOT certificates warrant the mileage.   Upon retiring from driving in 1997 the vehicle had only covered 35. 54 miles.   Sold to the second owner by the same Dealer in May 1997 for £3400 to Mr B. Rayner who kept the vehicle in storage.   Owned by a further two Saab enthusiasts and having covered only 37. 07 miles. this incredible car now presents itself for the next custodian to enjoy. Saab Handbook. Warranty details. Service Card and spare keys are included.

12 months MOT. Tax Feb 2014 and HPI Clear.

Period brochures have great photos.   Take a look at the flared trousers as worn by the model here in the Saab 96 brochure!
