1969 VW BEETLE 1200, 61,000 miles from new, one previous owner, totally original for sale

Rare opportunity to buy one of the most original, low mileage examples of a VW Beetle available anywhere.The mileage is 61,300, this is genuine and evidenced by the original fully stamped service record booklet with 19 stamps. Also loads of MOT certificates and receipts.This is the 'Standard' 1200 version with 1192 cc engine.The original owner purchased this car new on 5 th July 1969 from F C Purser Ltd in the Old Kent Road, London SE 1. He had the car serviced at that same garage 17 times until he retired in 1984, at which point he stopped using the Beetle and it then sat on his driveway for 24 years! Then it was spotted by a VW enthusiast who persuaded the owner to sell. This enthusiast then restored the bodywork back to its original condition, but did not update the V 5, so when I bought it from him I became only the second registered owner, as shown in the current V 5.I have carefully looked after the Beetle during my 13 years of ownership so that the bodywork still looks excellent, as shown in the photos.The interior is all original, including the Kangol static seat belts. The passenger seat and rear seat look like they've not been sat in, the driver's seat is not quite so firm as a result of the mileage, and had a small split in the vinyl in the top corner which has since been repaired.The floors are in excellent condition front and rear, as is the complete underside. Only two small bits of welding have been necessary, around a rear suspension mounting and at the bottom of an inner wheelarch.Insides of the wheelarches are painted in body colour. The front luggage area and the undersides of the bonnet and engine lid have all been resprayed. Also the luggage tray has been replaced as per original.Both bumpers have been replaced, and both headlamps have been renewed and have best quality chrome rims.The engine is as original, and with only 61,000 miles covered runs superbly. It pulls well, has a good gearchange, no smokes or rattles and sounds just right.Still has the original Bluespot radio, which was working well last week but when I tried it the other day I couldn't find any stations, hopefully just needs fiddling with (it's got a new aerial).No silly offers please, I'd rather hang on to it.
