GR Auto Gallery is pleased to offer this highly original 1941 Plymouth Special Deluxe for your consideration. This beautiful pre-war Plymouth is powered by the original 3299cc (201ci) Chrysler Flathead inline-6 motor. The three speed manual transmission features a column mounted shifter for the classic "3-on-the-tree" driving experience.

This is an all steel car that is very clean throughout and is an original 2-door car. The selling owner notes it has a newer interior that has two tone door cards, gray bench seats, gray carpeting, and brown dashboard. The gray exterior is in great condition and is accented by striking brightwork that also is in fantastic condition. A red pinstripe, Special Deluxe badge, and trim ring around the wheels add a little pop of color which contributes to the overall great appearance. This '41 Plymouth rides on Firestone wide whitewall tires.

Overall this is a great example of a highly original Plymouth. Ford and Chevrolet Automakers had a stronghold on the market with their different models for most of the thirties but Walter P. Chrysler had a great product and an even better marketing plan. The 1941 Plymouth Special Deluxe Convertible was designed to be a solid contender in the convertible auto market and after years of pushing prospective buyers to "look at all three", they had finally made it to a sales level equal to their competitors. The 1932 was the first step towards competing with the other domestic companies and by the forties, the styling of the heart shaped grill and "speedline" fenders with their bright embellishment became an undeniably beautiful ride. Mr. Chrysler didn't make it into contention because of these styling points but rather through quality and engineering and claimed 10 advances along the way including the oil-bath cleaner, safety-rim wheels to hold the tire together in case of a blowout and an under-the-hood battery opposed to the more often found spot underneath the driver seat. With automotive sales stopping for war, customers relied on older models for a long period of time and the Chrysler lineup became a permanent residence in the automotive marketplace. Please call or email with any questions or for additional information.
