1959 VW Karmann Ghia Lowlight Coupe RHD for sale
Current customer rating:
She's a 1958 built Feb' 59 (Road Tax and MOT exempt- obviously) registered black over brilliant red car with chassis number 2187315. as you probably know there wasn't an option for a RHD Lowlight (or pre-1960 Ghia). this one was converted by a specialist company in the UK when new. there are a only a few remaining. the owners of which I have been in touch with. This is a very rare car.
She's not a perfect car by any stretch. but not a rot box either. interested parties are probably better off calling to get a full and honest description or arrange a viewing.
Briefly the worst of it: It runs the original floor pans but these have been patched up in places. notably the nearside pan has been plated up to a later sill covering the usual body mount bolt area. the n/s rear corner below the bumper has had a poor repair and could do with sorting at some point. there's bubbling around the o/s headlight and nostril and also on the swage line behind the n/s door. Not to paint too bad a picture but honesty being the best policy and all that. Like I say. come and have a look and I show you everything. good and bad. these things aside it is structurally solid and an awesome car. the nose has never been hit. Interior - seats. headliner etc are tired but original.
Suspension is standard but I have fitted dropped spindles up front with all new king and links.
The rare 58/59 steering wheel and waffle sun visors are there.
I shall miss the whole experience of Lowlight ownership when it goes. there's nothing quite like it. the reaction it gets on the road is amazing. It's just not a practical car for me right now.
The originality has been lost some time ago. however having had a taller 1500 gearbox and 1641cc SSP motor with twin 40's. berg linkage. stainless CSP comp exhaust and 12v conversion inc alternator and electronic ignition. it's not for the purist but it makes for a great cruiser and have had no bones about jumping in and driving it anywhere.
Price wise I'm looking at £9750 ovno. I have seen project Lowlights for this kind of money recently and this one is on the road and ready to enjoy. if you were inclined to sort the imperfections you could treat it as a rolling project or enjoy it for what it is as I have done.
Please call for more info' and specifics below - interested parties only though please. no dreamers or scammers (who am I kidding!!!)

Hi. still for sale?
from Nick, dated 18 june 2014
Before asking any questions, can I check whether the car is still for sale?
Any info on the conversion to RHD and any info on experience of parts availability for low light Ghias would be really helpful.
Many thanks.
Nick.
