1979 Mercedes-Benz 416L Unimog for sale
Current customer rating:
This is a 1979 Mercedes 416 L Unimog. This vehicle has had multiple modifications and improvements. The engine has a turbo with an intercooler installed. The turbo adds a significant amount of power. The truck is fitted with high speed axles. The truck has a top speed of 70 mph and cruises well around 62 mph. The engine is a low miles replacement that was installed when the turbo was fitted. The truck has a 3" body lift to allow space for the turbo. It runs 395/85 R 20 tires.
This truck was well known in the Unimog community with its previous owner and was previously featured in magazines. The truck had rust to some body work and needed repairs. All of the metal has been professionally repaired. A donor single cab truck was used for the body panels. The interior has been re-done as well and is re-upholstered in tan leather. The front seats are originally from a 2010 Cadillac Escalade.
I am selling this with the trailer you see in the pictures. It is a 1. 5 ton M 105 A 2 military trailer. It has had an extension added to its neck and it tracks great with the truck. It has airbrakes and has parking brakes built onto the trailer. It has been converted to 12 V bulbs and works well with this truck.
The truck will go anywhere and gets an enormous mount of attention. Ground clearance under the axles is 20. 5".
Almost every aspect of this truck has been gone through and everything is in working order. List of things gone through in the last 1500 miles:1. Replaced engine head gasket. With a total breakdown of the engine 2. Serviced front and rear axles 3. Serviced Transmission 4. Replaced Hydraulic pump and lines 5. New air hoses for brakes 6. Body work 7. BASF high quality paint job 8. The fiberglass top was rebuilt and gel coated by a boat repair shop. 9. Spare tire mount fabricated 10. New leather interior 11. Bedliner spray to the interior floors. 12. Bedliner to the truck bed 13. The front bumper. mirrors. front fenders. all 5 rims. and boom crane were all professionally powder coated in a flat black. 14. Tool box installed in the bed.
Needs:1. The windshield wipers are not hooked up. They need the connecting arm that would travel over the engine modified to clear the turbo. I had intended to do this. but had forgotten about it until now. 2. Yellow Light on the roof is not hooked up. 3. Needs 2 new front tires. (new ones are on e Bay for $250. )4. The accessory airbrake tank that would be used for trailer airbrakes is not hooked up. The lines at the rear of the truck need repair if this were to be used.
I am sure I am missing something. Please shoot me a question. The truck is available for inspection in Austin. TX. I am glad to assist with shipping.
