1967 RMB Gentry MGTF Replica
Welcome to the sale of my RMB Gentry. in my opinion
the best MGTF replica ever made. so good in fact that kits are still being produced!. I really love the car and have just spent a great deal of time and money refurbishing the car. but unfortunately I now need to release some funds to start a new business. so its got to go!
I purchased the car from Jigsaw Racing. Triumph Spitfire Specialists in May of this year. The car had been stood for around 8 years prior to this and although solid. needed some TLC. So that's where the journey began and since May I have replaced or refurbished a huge amount. bringing the car to a top notch mechanical standard. I have kept a photographic record of all the work done.
This included all of the following items and more!. Complete Engine Rebuild - Encompassing Crankshaft Grind. New Main and Big End Bearings. New Thrust Washers. Honed Cylinder Block and New Piston Rings. Cylinder Head Skim and Valve Grind. New Oil Pump. Timing Chain. Water Pump. Fuel Pump and complete set of Coolant Hoses/Valves etc. The Engine was then sprayed using POR-15 Red Engine Paint from Frost Automotive. Reconditioned Starter Motor and Dynamo Twin HS 2 SU Carburettors completely refurbished with all new components AC Delco Distributor Reconditioned by H&H Ignition Solutions. New Classic Lucas Battery Brand New Stainless Steel Exhaust New Control Box All new Copper Brake Lines. New Master Cylinder. Wheel Cylinders and Hoses. Brand New Clutch Kit. New Copper Line. Master Cylinder and Slave Cylinder New Copper Fuel Line Chassis. Back Axle and Suspension Components completely stripped and treated with POR-15 Rust Inhibitor and POR-15 Chassis Black system from Frost Automotive Reconditioned Fuel Tank again coated with POR-15 system. Refurbished Wheels More great features that set this car apart from other Gentry's!. Full Set of Weather Gear (Hood & Side Screens) in Excellent Condition Triumph TR 4 Real Leather Seats in very good condition Triumph TR 15" Steel Wheels giving a lovely vintage look Classic large diameter wire spoked steering wheel Dash Layout that is more faithful to the original MGTD. comprising a full set of working gauges so you know exactly what's happening under the bonnet!Twin Air Horns Polished Windscreen Frame New MOTFree Historic Road Tax Photographic history of the original build in 1983 thanks to the original builder who contacted me through ebay. His details will be passed on to the new owner to keep this car's family tree well and truly alive.
Take a look at the video of the car on the drive here.

All in all its a great little car. it is really fun to drive with the looks and feel of a classic 1950 s MG but with the tractability and flexibility of more modern running gear. You will not be disappointed with it. always starting on the button and showing fantastic oil pressure - you'll have no worries! It brings a smile to peoples faces and generates interest everywhere you go. I really will be sad to see it go.
There are a few bits that might need attention in the future but this is up to you to decide on as its just great as it is!!
And a few little jobs for the future!.
Exterior Paint - To be honest the pictures make the paint look a little better than it is. whilst being perfectly passable it does have some reaction showing and a few chips after 30 years! You may wish to respray it one day. But it really doesn't detract from the overall feel of the car. Dashboard - As you can see in the video footage and pictures the dash veneer is looking a bit tired. but since I'm now selling it I felt id let the new owner decide where they wanted go with this - padded vinyl or a low cost burr walnut replacement veneer - there is a guide on Frost Automotive Website and this is an easy wet Sunday job (it was next on my list!!)Chrome - Bumpers/Spots and badge bar are good. over riders a little pitted as are the rear indicator bodies. but all in all its nicely aged and replacements are cheap. One last point. after getting it back on the road in the last few weeks it has become evident that 3 rd gear has worn synchromesh. After thinking about this I have decided to replace the gearbox with a fully reconditioned unit from James Paddock Triumph Specialist. This will be included in the sale price and fitted prior to collection by the buyer. However as there is a 2 week turnaround on the box from James Paddock. I decided to let people come and view / drive the car first. If you feel the car is for you. the new gearbox will be fitted straight away.
I would really recommend coming and viewing the car and taking it for a drive so please feel free to contact me via ebay to arrange a viewing. the car is located in the Forest of Dean. near Gloucester 10 mins from the M 5 and M 50. 30 mins from the M 4.
I look forward to meeting the next owner of this wonderful little car!!!
