1965 Beetle
First let me say that I LOVE this car. It has been extremely good to me and I get A LOT of compliments. thumbs up and peace signs flashed at me. With the 17" wheels and front Air Suspension it drives and handles unbelievably well. I have used it for marketing purposes and the idea of it being perfectly imperfect. sets it apart from most of the cars that are out there at VW events. However. most importantly it is extremely fun to drive.
I just went through and fixed all the little things that were bothering me on the vehicle.
I bought this car a few years ago and have disassembled most of the body. wet sanded and then cut and buffed everything to bring it to the current state. Most of the paint is original. however some areas have been resprayed. such as some of the roof and fenders and hood. The following are all the items that have been installed or replaced in the past year and around 2000 miles.
Rebuilt 1915 cc by Jerry Spearn CB Performance Cylinder Heads that were redone by VW Performance in Phoenix. MST Billet Valve Covers Front Drop Spindle Disc Brakes Rear Wide Track Disc Brakes 17" BRM Wheels with 215/40/17 tires front and rear VW Loosenuts Safari Windshield Trimmed out headlight buckets. new headlights Complete Wiring Harness and wiper delete. Dub Air front Air suspension Fast Fab Cruiser Pedal. Fuel Pump Block Off MST Billet Serpentine Belt New Glove Box New Gas Gauge New Large Capacity Fuel Tank New Door Panels New Billet Dash Knobs and Window Cranks New Reclining Bucket Seats Rear seat Cover New Carpet kit and sound deadening installed Accessory Wire for Rear Stereo system and Kicker Speakers (No Stereo Currently) New Antenna Suspension Bushings Rear Adjustable spring plates. Solid Mount Transmission Mounts 1 & 5/8 Stainless Sidewinder Exhaust What could still be done if the new owner chose to? Install Engine and Trunk seals. and maybe replace some of the other seals. if desired. Previous owner installed a thicker metal in the center sections either to flat pan it or due to corrosion. I have never had any issues with them so I have left as is but through some undercoating over them.
