Here we have my Beloved Bedford TK HCB Angus bodied fire tender . last year when i bought her she was in a very poor state and i have worked very hard over the summer to Re-Commission her. Ive done four shows and either won an award or got a highly recommended. She is a real crowd puller and head turner. everyone loves her and i have trouble getting away from every garage fuelling up. without questions. She will need new diodes in the alternator but i have driven her 50 miles and back on her new battery NO PROBLEMS. She is petrol as were most of that era. so 10-13MPG is about what she will do. If i get the BUY NOW price or indeed near im prepared to sell all the kit and uniforms with her. But i will not accept daft offers for her. Many Many man hours have been spent. many miles driven and a lot of money spent. I have even restored the bailey ladders and pout an new flasher system in her. everything works (some stuff ive wired to old syle new switches) i even have a PYE cambridge radio in her. Shes a stunner and the Wiltshire retired FB love her and indeed have been of great assistance. I knew nothing about fire engines and indeed didnt set out to buy one. but the old fella was going to SCRAP her. I just couldnt let him. I love classic cars. but it isnt fair just keeping her in my garden. I dont think the show pics do her justice.
I am possibly looking for a swap of the same value or a swap and cash my way.
These things aint for the faint hearted they need love and TLC all the time. but with this one 95% is done just havent had time to spray the chassis silver. The brakes were all done and are good. ive put electronic ignition in her and she has just been serviced. She puffs a little smoke on start up. but im told because i have to put lead additive in her she will !! As all petrol bedfords they will consume a little oil but its normal. as is the oil bath air filter. I have made money with this vehicle doing proms. weddings and hens etc. But everybody has been told ITS A PIECE OF HISTORY not a play thing. Id love a museum to buy her as she needs to be shown
Ive been told there are very few of these split screen bedfords about and its a rare beasty. Indeed i attended the biggest fire engine event at odiham this year and there wasnt any split screen Bedford TK's there. just a much later 70's model.
It will be a shame to let her go. but ive enjoyed restoring her and i need to move on
REMEMBER. i have spent thousands on all the equipment and kit so unless i get the BUY NOW PRICE it wont go with the tender and i will sell it privately !! SHES WORTH EVERY PENNY. she DOES NOT REQUIRE AN MOT (historic vehicle) it cost me only £119 with recovery to insure FC) and you can drive her on a car licence. I have a lot of information with her history etc and all the Bedford Factory repair manuals they gotta be worth £150 alone). Uniforms hats buttons books manuals equipment she really is all there. Shame to let her go. hard work to drive but great FUN and SMILES per mile
ITS SUCH A SORTED FIRE ENGINE AND WITH VERY LITTLE TO DO OR COLLECT . I DOUBT YOU COULD FIND ANOTHER LIKE IT
