First introduced in 1952. the Bedford CA was a light delivery
van built upon a separate chassis with production continuing
through to 1969. The chassis allowed specialist bodyworks to be
fitted such as the Dormobile and Campervan conversions and was
offered in either short or long wheelbase with carrying capacities
of 10 cwt. 12 cwt or 15 cwt. The basic van. with its two opening rear
doors and sliding front doors. despite being the mainstay utility
vehicle of the period. is an uncommon sight on our roads
nowadays.
We are pleased to offer the even rarer split screen version of the
CA van and with its original purchase receipt. Having been in the
current ownership for the past ten years. this 1957 short wheelbase
15 cwt example is powered by the four cylinder. 1508 cc engine with
three speed column change underwent a full restoration shortly
after purchase. The works not only included a full body
refurbishment. but also a mechanical rebuild. inclusive of engine. br/>gearbox. brakes and suspension. In fact. on starting the engine. it
is so quiet it is difficult to know it is running.

road and ready to go with a UK V 5 registration document and
