1968 Shelby GT350 Convertible

If you're reading this. then you know what it is and little background information is needed.   Suffice to say. this is one of 404 similar Shelby GT350 Convertibles built in 1968. the only year Shelby produced a convertible based on the Mustang's 2nd Generation platform.   This is a moment by moment fully documented example from the original order. to the production line to the present without a single gap or unknown point in this incredible vehicle's history.

Total documented mileage with full history and filed formal odometer statements is only 38. 68 miles.   The car is fully documented. verified and confirmed as “matching numbers” with each code and part number as identified on the original assembly data sheets (BroadCast Sheet) matching up with the car's components today.  

It is unlikely that there is a more documented. lower mileage. carefully conserved and preserved GT350 Convertible in existence.  The car was carefully inspected and evaluated upon arrival starting with the original FORD / Shelby Automotive assembly documents. known as the "Broadcast Sheet. "  This document along with the car's other various files and the ever so informative Kevin Marti / Marti Auto Works Report and the latest edition of the Shelby American World Registry confirmed that the car remains in a remarkable state of preservation.  With the exception of a new soft top and replacement. but correct carburetor. this Shelby retains all of its original sheet metal. engine. gearbox. rear axle. interior trim. seats and carpeting as delivered new.  The car is completely devoid of wear and tear and at first glance appears to be fully restored when in fact it is a completely original and un-restored example.

The original warranty card and metal warranty tag along with rare original owner's manual are just a few of the items usually lost with such vehicles that remain with this Shelby today.  Make no mistake. while ready for any manner of concours show or event. this is no "hanger queen. "   The car has been meticulously cared for by each owner and performs and operates as if it had been built and delivered yesterday.  Engine compression is perfect and even on every cylinder. with clutch. brakes. suspension. gearbox etc. all in perfect working order.

Unlike the bigger engined 500 and 500KR versions. the GT350 remains light and lively at all speeds. with a willing engine that begs to be revved and driven to its 6. 00rpm red-line over and over again!  Even the original period AM radio operates as if it were new and small details abound such as both sets of original coded keys for the ignition. doors. glove box and trunk.  The original coded key circle. something we had never seen before is still attached to the original keys as if the car had just been delivered new. rather than 45 years ago!  The original period date coded GoodYear E70-15 "SPEEDWAY" spare tire remains in the trunk likewise appearing as if it had been fitted just yesterday rather than 45 years ago.  Such details abound throughout this vehicle and it is as such an automotive treasure without equal.  The Marti Report states this is one of 404 similar Shelby Cobra GT350 Convertibles built.  That however is just a raw statistic.  This is in fact a true "One of One" and a machine of provenance and presence unlikely to be ever equalled again!
