1949 Kaiser Virginian. 226 cu. flat head six. 3 speed standard transmission with overdrive.  55. 00 miles. Reddish orange with black padded vinyl top.  Black interior.  4 door hardtop.  Private owner.  $16. 00 reserve.  Location:  Lancaster. New York.
The 1949 Kaiser Virginian was Kaiser's attempt at a luxury car.  Only 1000 were built.  Almost all were 4 door  hardtops although a few convertibles were also produce.  Priced near Cadillac. few Virginians were sold and may were used as factory promotional vehicles.
This particular Virginian was restored by a Kaiser specialist in Denver. Co.  in the 1990s for a man in Florida.  It was delivered to him at a Kaiser Meet in New Mexico and he drove it home to Florida.  When he died. it was sold to a collector from New Jersey.  When he died. three Studebaker collectors from South Bend. Indiana bought the entire collection just to get three Studebakers and sold the rest.  The present owner bought the Kaiser when he was at the Studebaker National Meet in South Bend in 2012.  He now finds that he has more old cars than he can comfortably maintain and has decided to "thin the herd".
This is not a show car but rather a "20 footer".  The vivid Indian Ceramic (reddish orange) makes the car stand out from the crowd.  A few minor chips have been touched up and is in overall very good condition.  The padded vinyl top was probably replaced when the car was restored and looks great.  The stainless and chrome are all original.  The pot metal has a few minor pits which are visible upon close inspection.  The grill is very nice.  The chrome on the bumpers is good with no dents. pitting or rust.  There are no visible signs of body damage.  The under-body is not undercoated and is very solid.  Wide white wall bias ply tires are in very good condition.
the dashboard has been repainted and looks nice.  The headliner is vinyl and in good condition.  The seats have been reupholstered in vinyl in the original pattern.  The door panels are original.  The rears are very good.  The front door panels are warped and shrunk and are attached with trim screws.  They look okay when the doors are closed but you might want to replace the front panels.
The car has complete new brake system. new windshield. new fuel pump and cleaned gas tank.  It runs and drive great.  Steers well.  You can be the only one on your block (or maybe in your state) to own a Kaiser Virginian.
