I cannot find another one of these for sale anywhere in the world.
Vauxhall light fourteen six 1937 with Holden drop head coupe body. Right hand drive two seat with fold out additional dickey seats. Only 126 thought to have been made and only 5 or 6 remaining in the world. Flowing two door aluminium bodywork with rear hinged 'suicide' doors. maroon with black wings and hood. rear mounted spare with moulded cover; fold out front screen and removable side screens. steel disc ‘Easi-Clean' wheels. front bench seat hinges forward with storage for side screens/starter handle/jack.
Water-fall type fluted chrome grille with chromed bonnet flutes: streamlined headlamp and side lamp pods. 12 volt electrics with fuse protection for lights. indicators and wiper motor. Pull starter. hydraulic four wheel brakes and Dubonnet type  low maintainence independent front suspension; these Vauxhalls were the first British cars with IFS and first popularly priced cars with all synchromesh gearbox in this case four speed.
There are other types of English built drop head thirties Vauxhalls but this is the only one I have seen with this pretty Holden body which was built by Woodville Adelaide plant and was unique to Australia.
It has a very smooth overhead valve. four main bearing straight six engine of 1781cc (46bhp or 14 RAC rated fiscal horsepower) which was the precursor of the post war Velox and Cresta engines. It is very light and undemanding to drive with an easy gear change. I have re chromed the front bumper. rebuilt the carburettor and fitted a new battery. It cruises at 50 or 60mph and is said to top 70mph and will return 26mpg plus. The hood can be raised and lowered easily as can the dickey seat which you climb into via steps on the rear left hand wing. There are areas of peeling paint on the body and the front grille could really benefit from being re-chromed but generally the car looks very presentable and is not rusty. It was imported into the UK in 1989 by collector from Southampton. used very little and then dry stored for the next twenty two years. I exhumed the car last summer and have now sorted the running problems so that the Vauxhall is ' on the button'. Neither the paint or trim are original. the seat covers being plastic but they were done sufficiently long enough ago not to look out of place. The vacuum and temperature gauges on the dashboard and rear indicators are later additions. There are lap type seat belts fitted in the front but its every man for himself in the mother-in-law seat!
