1960 VW Bus DD Panel SWR

This is an extremely nice. carefully restored original 1960 VW Bus in sealing wax red. Original Rare. Double Door Panel Bus. No rust whatsoever completely restored engine and body. Runs and drives anywhere and everywhere without issue. Brakes work brilliantly. motor runs smooth. gears sit tight. and blinkers/horns/lights all do as they should. Skylights are in excellent shape and truly set this bus apart. The light in the cabin fromt he skylights. especially with a factory petition behind the bench (original. and removable - see pics). are an absolute joy to drive with. I am selling the bus as I intended to build a camper to use with my kids. and I do not have the heart to modify this rare panel double door to suite my needs. Panels are becoming more rare by the day. and Sealing Wax Red was VW's flagship color for the panel van market.

History: Bus was original to CA in 1960. Was brought by Unknown to Maine 20 +/- years ago. Roughly 12 years ago it underwent a rotisserie restoration. Only minor repairs were made during restoration and with all NOS parts used. Was restored and owned by Owl Head Museum on display as part of their collection for several years. Bought in auction from the museum in 2005. The motor was then replaced with a professionally rebuilt 1776 cc 75 hp dual weber carb motor. built by Charlie Jordan (Master VW Mechanic) in South Poland ME. Big nut trans. freeway flyer. Paint was applied in 2000 and still looks great. Correct Sealing Wax Red base and clear with correct interior dove gray cargo area as per panel bus original spec. Stainless screws and fittings where appropriate and not painted over. this is a proper restoration. Under carriage coated including front floors and panel/deluxe splash pan present.
