So here we have a real rarity a 1971 Austin 3 litre automatic with power steering. Less than 10. 00 of these cars were produced and only 63 are known to survive. out of the 63 only 7 are believed to be Automatics  ( source How many Left ). The story with this car is as follows. I bought this car early in the year.  I was told it only needed minor cosmetic attention but soon realised it deserved a full restoration.
So I decided to put the car through the workshop and after 5 months and hundreds of hours we have the car you see . Both front wings were removed ( a major job on a 3 litre ).  All rot was cut out and replaced with new metal and both headlamp mounting plates were replaced. The inner wings could then be repaired correctly while the wings were off.  The A posts and sills were also repaired. the body repairs were then lead loaded. London power steering services totally reconditioned the steering rack. another common 3 litre problem. The brakes have been checked over. 2 tyres have been fitted along with a new battery. new plastic headlamp bowls. new rear half exhaust system and all fluids have been checked or replaced. The car was then painted in the correct shade of Blackberry with 4 coats of 2 pack. The interior is in lovely condition. The seats are unmarked as are the carpets the west of England head lining and door cards . The door fillets would benefit a re-laquer to finish it off. Mechanically the engine sounds sweet with good oil pressure and at tick over is barely audible. the gearbox changes smoothly and the brakes pull the car up without fuss. This is now a lovely example of this very rare car in the best colour and only 3 previous owners. If you want one of the rarest cars on the show field next season this is the one for you.
