Current customer rating:
1984 2 wd Vanagon Westfalia Including Trailer
Reserve price includes delivery to Seattle. WA
I am the 3 rd owner of this van and bought it in 2012.
After purchasing I pulled the original 1. 9 VW engine and installed the EJ 22 from a 1991 Subaru Impreza.
This engine is arguably the best engine swap available for the VW Vanagon.
Increasing the horsepower from the stock 80 to 142 the EJ 22 is a perfect fit for the engine bay and transaxle.
The 1991 EJ 22 is also a non-interference motor with a reputation of being bomb proof.
While installing the motor I had Tom Shiels build the wiring harness complete with a check engine light giving the van the ability to give codes to many sensors and mechanical issues that may arise.
I installed Go Westy's All-Terrain Package which included Fox Racing shocks as well as BFG All-Terrains mounted on 16” Aluminum wheels.
A full size spare is mounted on the rear of the van.
I replaced the bumpers on the van and upgraded the headlights with the most powerful Halogens allowed by the Department of Transportation.
Combined with the 100 w Light Force. this van lights up the highway.
This is a 4 season van.
I had the transmission rebuilt because I wanted a locker installed in the transaxle.
Gary Peloquin has developed a Torque Biasing Differential that works similarly to a Limited Slip Differential.
No manual engagement is necessary.
When one tire slips. the opposing tire engages giving this van amazing off road and winter driving abilities.
This van also includes a full set of Nokian Hakkapeliitta 8 studded winter tires mounted on Go Westy 16” Aluminum Wheels matching the wheels in the photos.
This gives this van summer All-Terrain and winter studded tires all mounted on their own rims making tire swaps easy.
In 2014 I loaded up my family and drove 9. 00 miles from Haines. Alaska to Orlando. Florida and back.
Just this past winter we spent 2 months crossing the United States and Canada logging 12. 00 miles.
We visited 5 Canadian Provinces and visited 18 different States.
This is an expedition ready classic and is built to travel.
The black enclosed trailer in the photos is also included in the sale of this van.
I recently purchased this trailer for our last 2 month trip crossing Canada and the United States.
You will notice in the photos the trailer underwent a series to tire changes and fender changes.
While in Tucson. AZ I replaced the light duty axle installed on the trailer from the factory with a new 3500 lb axle so I could run 10 ply radial tires capable of withstanding the rocks and potholes of the Alaska Highway.
This trailer is now equipped with with full size trailer tires and diamond plate aluminum fenders.
The Yakima racks pictured on top of the van (in some of the photos) are included with this sale.
The roof top box including key is also included in the sale of the van.
The black cargo box mounted on the swing away carrier located on the back of the van is also included with the sale.

I just finished driving this van 12. 00 miles across Canada and the US.
I would not hesitate to do it again.
This is an adventure ready van!
The chassis. rockers. and undercarriage have no mentionable rust.
The van does have rust spots around the windows under the rubber seals.
The only rust on the van worth mentioning are the spots around the windows.
They are about the size of a quarter and one spot per window.
The windshield on the van is cracked and will need to be replaced.
Living in Alaska. it is pointless to replace the windshield.
I will surely be rock chipped again on the next trip down the Alaska Highway. This van does not currently have AC.
AC is available to add to this van as an aftermarket addition.

Feel free to call me with questions on this van.
I am not disclosing the reserve on the van as I believe it defeats the purpose of a reserve.

If you are wondering why I am selling the van. I am planning on buying a 4 x 4 Syncro Vanagon Westy.
If you would like any further details or would like to make an offer on the van you can call me at Nine O Seven - Seven Six Seven- Five Six Three Zero.
Ask for Chad.
