Current customer rating:
1970 Buick GS 455 Convertible
1 of 1040 Buick GS 455 convertibles produced in 1970 - rarer than a Stage 1 hardtop. Factory color code 14. silver mist w/ black interior and a black top.
This GS 455 is a 2 owner car and has been off the road & covered since 1982.
Factory options include. (N 40) Power Steering. (JL 2) Power Disc Brakes. (C 60) Air Conditioning. (U 35) Clock. (D 33) Remote Control Outside Mirror. (A 01) Soft-Ray Tinted Glass. (D 55) Center Console. (PO 5) Chrome Plated Wheels (G 80) Positive Traction Differential.
The exterior is complete but was poorly painted at some point in its life. The bottom of the fenders and the quarter panels need the most attention but these parts are available new. The chassis looks good with no rot. the floor & rear inner wheel wells all look ok with some areas needing spot repairs.
The trunk will need a patch panel on the drivers side. otherwise it is in ok condition.
Buick 455 engine with 510-lb. ft of torque. TH 400 automatic transmission and 10 bolt rear end.
According to the second owner. the engine was rebuilt and running well. but there was an issue removing a faulty water pump and the car was parked and never repaired.
It will need a new water pump & timing cover. otherwise the engine is complete carb to pan and looks very clean under the valve cover.
The interior is in good condition and compete. the dash board is clean with no cracks and has the optional clock.
The front bucket seats operate good. center console in nice shape. front door panels are ok but worn at bottom. rear seats and rear side panels are in great condition.
The carpet has been removed to show the floors which are in good shape with some small areas along the sides needing spot repairs. All the factory sound deadening is intact as shown in the pictures.
The convertible top components are all in place and complete with a glass rear window.
The interior top frame / rails are in good condition and all mounting points inside the quarter panels look solid.
There is no rust around the convertible top body moulding.
Haggertys value guide lists the Buick GS 455 convertible price range at $66. 00 restored and $17. 00 in fair condition
