1963 Austin Rover Mini 1071 Cooper S Rally Race Car for sale

Here I have for sale my cherished 1963 Austin Cooper ‘S'.

 

I have owned the car since 2000. I purchased the car in 2000 as a stripped shell.

 

In 2000 the car was shot blasted and all the rusty panels repaired or replaced with pictures to prove. It had new front panel. wings. a-panels and doors. The car was rebuilt and sprayed professionally in original Tartan Red.

 

The engine is a 1071 block and has a lead free. ported big valve head. BP270 camshaft. balanced & lightened flywheel. A/P competition clutch. balanced rods and centre oil pickup. It also has inch & a quarter carbs. with a bendix fuel pump and fuel regulator. 7233 Miles since being re-built.

 

The car is fitted with close ratio straight cut gear set. a cross pin diff and ‘universal joint' type drive shafts.

 

It has AVO adjustable shocks all round (height adjustable) and also has adjustable. strengthened tie rods.

 

The interior has two Cobra FIA approved seats (in date). and two sets of 5 point FIA approved harnesses (in date). It is fitted with a lifeline FIA approved fire extinguisher plumed in 50/50 split between under bonnet and inside the car. Also has a handheld extinguisher fitted. Full FIA approved roll cage.

 

The car is fitted with original 10”x5” ‘S' wheels in white. with Yokohama semi-slick road legal tyres. The car is also fitted with Cibie front headlamps and Lucas 20/20 spot-lamps.

 

The car also has an FIA ID card. MSA logbook and a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust factory record certificate. (Details the specification and identification numbers of the car when it left the factory. )

 

In 2002 the car was involved in a road accident which resulted in an insurance claim. the car had a new wing. door and A-pillar. All repaired correctly by a professional and I have had no problems since.

 

This car has competed in many historic rallies including. The Winter Challenge (Monte-Carlo) and the Killarney Rally of The Lakes 2007 & 2008.

 

The car will come with its original 1963 number plate. Lots of old bills and MOT's and Tax disks.

The car is a genuine 1071s. The exact build date is 8th November 1963. the date of dispatch was 14th November 1963. the V5 states the car was first registered 1st December 1963.
