1967 Austin mini mk1. genuine 14. 00 mls. it has been dry stored since 1988. very original no previous welding to the floors. sills etc all original. it has had some paintwork in its lifetime but this is a very rare find. only 2 owners from new. it has been started regularly whilst in storage and is on the key now. running and driving. it is not mot'd or taxed. brakes etc all seem to work . rear subframe looks fine. the handbrake is binding slightly though.

The tyres have perished through standing but still hold air

The n/s rear light lens is broken

I have several old mot's and the v5 plus various handbooks

Could simply be re-commissioned and used as it is or could be a fantastic and easy restoration project to get into show condition. the bodywork is very good. the bonnet has rusted though on one corner and needs replacement really. a brand new bonnet is included in the sale. also one of the rear seam trims has rusted. again a new replacement is included. there are a few spiders of surface rust coming underneath the paint on various panels and some micro blistering under the paint in a couple of places.

These points are not really noticeable and the overall appearance is excellent.

Below is a copy of the history as passed to me by the previous owner.

I have set a very low and realistic reserve

I can deliver the car anywhere in the uk at extra cost. the winning bidder must pay £250 deposit at the end of the auction. the balance must be paid within 5 days after that.

HISTORY

Austin Mini 850-MJG 367F. Mileage 14. 00.

The Mini was supplied by George Fitt Motors of Tankerton. Kent on 22. 9. 1967. The

original owner. a friend of my sister. only used the car to take her elderly mother out on weekends.

She worked for a Solicitors in Herne Bay and was persuaded by one of her customers. a garage owner. to let him service the car. She went to collect the car that evening and was told it was not ready. When she finally collected the car some days later it was fitted with a brand new Gold Seal engine. The young lad working at the garage was blamed. but the cause of the problem was never explained to her. At that time the car had covered some 10. 00 miles.

Her mother died in around 1983 and she could not bear to use the car. despite keeping it taxed. MOT'd and insured for the following 5 or 6 years. MOT certificates show it doing around 6 miles a year at that time.

She eventually decided to sell the car and I purchased it around 1989. On collection I placed it on a two poster ramp at the garage I managed and spent 2 hours spraying under the car with old engine oil. a tip I learnt from a Mini enthusiast all those years ago.

Needless to say the workshop manager was not too impressed with the oil that had dripped on the floor overnight! However it paid dividends as the car is still corrosion free

to this day.

The car was always kept in the dry and has been unused ever since.

As the car is tax exempt I toyed with the idea of putting her on the road to use on fine weekends in the summer so started to prepare the car for an MOT. The front bakes were overhauled as they had seized. At that time my wife decided she would use the car when finished. not a good idea and it was put back in the garage!

The vehicle has never needed any welding and is in original condition. The tyres are the original cross plies with plenty of tread but have perished over the years. As will be seen in the photographs two items are evident: The o/s corner of the bonnet is corroded. The o/s corner trim/moulding of the body had started to rust and mark the body. this has been rubbed down and painted. A new bonnet and mouldings (in primer) are with the car.
