OVERVIEW

In a world where things move so fast that you can hardly keep up. this incredible example of Old-School. Traditional cool is a breath of fresh air. and a truly one of a kind vehicle that was built to be driven. and to last for the next generation to study and appreciate.  

With just over 2. 00 miles since completion. the car shows to be practically new in every aspect. and has few. if any. minor and inconsequential flaws to mention.

DESCRIPTION

This incredible looking and driving 1930 Ford 5-window coupe was pieced together over a period of years by its builder and loving former owner. who was a Phycisist by trade. and a lifelong Hot Rodder and drag racer since back in the day.  

It is extremely well thought out and put together. and has a fit and finish that exceeds most cars costing twice as much.  

The car is currently in exceptional. show-ready condition. and it has not even been professionally detailed by me! Once you get it home and spend the afternoon cleaning all of the little nooks and crannies. this car will be practically undeafable on the local and regional show circuit. and a strong and serious contender for BEST OF SHOW in the National shows as well.  

The stunning finish is the first thing to catch your eye. and consists of multiple coats of DuPont IMRON Cessna Blue. It is so silky smooth and wet looking that it shows like it was just done. and the car has not even been professionally color sanded and buffed to perfection yet! Once that is done. it will show even more mirror-like in its reflectivity than it already does.  

The body on the car is all 100% 1930 Henry Ford Steel with the exception of the removeable fiberglass hood that is fastened by Dsuz clips and can be removed in a matter of minutes by one person.  

The body itself was selected for its originality and cleanliness. and it was in exceptional condition prior to even starting this project. It is incredibly solid. and after hours of careful preperation. is no doubt straighter than anything that ever left Henry's factory back in 1930! 

All of the wood in the entire car was replaced with new. treated lumber that was carefully cut to exact specifications at a considerable investment.  

There are NO signs of rust. rot. bondo. chicken wire. beer can patches. or any other horror stories associated with this car. It is 100% rot and rust free. and shows it. You can run a 4"X4" felt covered magnet over the entire car and it sticks like glue.  

The roof has not been chopped. and the canvas topper on the car was intricately replaced with a grafted in roof panel from a Chevrolet Vega station wagon. I dare you to find the seams. I went over the car with my nose an inch from it couldn't. That is the level of finish and craftsmanship that carries throughout the entire car.  

The entire body. inside and out. was treated to DuPont Coralar sealer prior to being painted and assembled. adding long term protection to the car from the inside out.

Flaws? Not many at all. and all of them are smaller than a few millimeters. I'm talking about things like miniscule stone chips and marks from normal driving. a hairline scuff. and minor blemishes like that. Review the 100 detailed photos below. and you will agree that it is ready to show. with pride. anywhere.

The glass on the car is all brand new. and is all safety glass. There are no cracks. chips. marks. or laminate issues whatsoever. Felts. fuzzies. and weather stripping is all like new as well.

Headlamps are beautiful vintage units that have been rebuilt and cleaned to show like new. while the tail lights are teardrop style modern LED's for safety and visibility.

The fuel tank is in the original cowl location. but is new. and has an electric solenoid switch to make sure you do not get any gravity back feed into the carbs. It holds about 10 gallons of gas. and is good for around 100 miles of travel. so keep tabs on it on those long cruises!

Brightwork and chrome on the car is in stellar condition. and what was not sourced new has been lovingly cleaned and polished. or sent out for professional restoration and show chroming. It looks absolutely stunning on the car. and provides an excellent counterpoint against the paint.

The trunk opens up to reveal a fully finished interior that compliments the inside of the car. A storage cubby provides ample room for a small tool kit. polishing cloth and wax. and also houses the ballast bar. which came from the builders friend. He donated it from an original 1960's gasser. and it is just another cool. old-school piece of this cars history. There is also a functioning trunk light. which opens when the trunk hatch lifts.

The rear access panel easily removes should you need access to the battery. which has a master off/on switch located in the cabin.

The body sits on original 1930 Ford rails. boxed full length with a removeable center cross member.

A vintage FRANKLAND quick change rear end with a FORD 4. 11 ring & pinion. Studebaker bells. Ford end caps. and a Ford spool sits out back.  A custom made set of spiral cut transfer gears give it a final ratio of 3:70 to 1. making it very manageable.

A CHASSIS ENGINEERING 4-bar and panhard bar with DUTCHMAN heavy duty 31 spline axles completes the rear end. and makes for one practically bulletproof set-up.

The front suspension system is based on an original 1932 Ford axle. which has been drilled and dropped by Mor Drop. with a Posie spring and a pair of genuine 1932 Ford wishbones. This front end is very unique. in that you can tell it was made by hand based on the insets. Incredible piece of history. and just another one of the unobtainium parts on this phenomenal car!

The braking system uses an early Ford Mustang master cylinder with 1959 Buick drums on 1948 Ford backing plates in the front. and Heavy Duty Ford truck drum assemblies out back. They have been fine tuned and set up to stop the car easily. and thanks to the fin's they stay cool and avoid fade. excess modulation. chatter. and pull.

Gorgeous vintage FORD rims are painted to match the car. and have trim rings and V8 FORD center caps that show as good as new at all four corners.

They are wrapped in BFGoodrich Silvertown Radials up front. and REAL Firestone "DRAGSTER" tires in back. sized 1000/15. All four tires are damage free. are not dry rotted. and have just over 2. 00 miles of easy driving on them.

The powertrain on the car started with a very low mileage 1961 Chevrolet 283ci motor with a stock bore and stroke. and the motor was rebuilt from the block out with all new internals from soup to nuts.

Competition Cams provided the EXTREME ENERGY camshaft. matching lifters. roller rockers. and stainless steel valves with triple springs.

The heads are early 80's Chevy 305HO units. with REAL. vintage OFFENHAUSER valve covers.

The TRI-POWER intake is also a real. vintage OFFENHAUSER unit. and has been port matched to the 305 heads with Rochester 2-barrel carbs and an OFFENHAUSER linkage. They are tuned to perfection by the prior owner. who has more real-world experience setting them up than most of us will ever get.

The ignition system on the car utilizes a PERTRONIX distributor and a 6AL MSD control box with a rev-limiter.

Sanderson custom built the ceramic coated headers on the car. and they can be uncapped to wreak havoc on passerby. or you can let them breathe underneath the car through the powder coated SMITTY muffler and exhaust system. Either way. it sounds absolutely incredible. and will turn heads at idle!

The stout powertrain sends the power to the rear end via a brand new.  aluminum cased TH700-R4 automatic overdrive tranmission. The tranny was custom built for the car by FOURTH GEAR. INC. . and has heavy duty Corvette internals. and a Corvette Z06 lock-up converter.

It shifts wonderfully. and you can manually shift through all the speeds for maximum power and torque. or just snick it into "D" and let the tranny do the work for you. Either way. it is a treat to drive.

Mechanically. the car is in stellar condition. and needs absolutely nothing to drive and enjoy right now. This vehicle is essentially a brand new car. with just over 2. 00 miles since completion.

It starts with a simple turn of the key. idles smoothly. and kicks down when it should. The cam gives it a nice. lopey rumble that sounds fantastic. and the overall exhaust note is extremely pleasing to the ear.

It snicks into gear easily. and shifts into each corresponding gear without issue.

Power is strong from the get-go. and the car feels very powerful in all speeds under acceleration.

There are no driveability quirks or issues. and it feels as solid as you expect.

Inside the car. the interior is just as beautiful and fresh as the exterior. and shows to be about as flawless too.  

The real white leather has been professionally rolled and pleated in the classic 60's style. with impeccable piping work. and hand painted details. From the kick panels to the rear deck and all the way to the seats. it looks stunning. and really  captures that traditional look and feel.

Rear deck is set up with a VINTAGE AIR control panel and two Vintage Air vents. and the car was set-up to add air conditioning down the road. with ample room for blower motors and accessories behind the seat. and plenty of room left in the modern style fuse panel.

Rectangular beveled rear view mirror is era correct. and functions great too!

Wheel Shoppe made the custom Banjo steering wheel and wrapped it in matching leather. It shows wonderfully. and provides the perfect handhold for navigating this machine.

A 1932 FORD Roadster dash panel contains MOON Eyes gauges by Classic Instruments. which rest in the gorgeous vintage engine turned gauge surround.

Steering column is painted to match. and holds the vintage FORD turn signal arm.

Headliner is in excellent condition. and matches the rest of the interior. as does the custom made overhead console with AM/FM CD stereo system.

Wrapping things up is luxurious and plush MERCEDES-BENZ dark blue wool banded carpeting. which was installed over layers of heat and sound absolrbing material. It shows like new. and is complimented by the matching custom-cut floor mats.

The car captures the look and feel of what a real 1960's HOT ROD would be so well. it was hand selected to be a representative of the era in a special NHRA display at the 2011 Gator Nationals. including a chance to run a pass down the strip for exhibition!

It is in exceptional overall condition. and. as you can see from the 100 large and detailed photos below. it is ready to enter into any local or regional show right now. Spend some time with your favorite wax and cleaners. and the car will be ready to enter into any National event with its eyes on a prize.

Other than the Gator Nationals event. the car has NEVER been professionally shown or displayed. but really needs to be. Hopefully. the lucky new owner will get it out into the limelight where it belongs.

Overall. the easiest thing to say about this machine is that it is freshly done machine that is ready to be shared and shown to the world this season. It could be you that does it.  

It fits everyone from our office manager who is 5'3" and 100 pounds all the way to my friend Jeff who is 6'3" and 270. so chances are it will fit YOU just fine! 

It comes with two (2) keys. and a free and clear title as a 1930 FORD with the correct FORD VIN plate on the door jamb.
