The Shelby Cobra is to this day one of the most iconic and rarest sports car roadsters to ever come off the assembly line. Because of the rather high prices the true Shelbys bring. the "re-creation" aftermarket kit has become a thriving business for many companies.  

 



Texas Classic Cars of Dallas is proud to present this 1965 Shelby Cobra recreation. this beauty is a quality replica from Backdraft Racing located in Durbin. South Africa.  they specialize in the re-creation of the Shelby Cobra roadsters. Producing many types of options. even track models complete with a hard top.  

 

This is one of the finest Cobra Replicas we have seen. It was built on a Backdraft chassis and has BMW components. which makes it drive like a dream. The Tremek TKO600 5 Speed Transmission shifts smoothly and will take you to speeds that will get you a speeding ticket in a minute if you're not careful.

This replica was put together in 2006 ( titled as such)  and is still relatively untouched. the car was built and shipped without an engine and transmission. from South Africa to help reduce export duties. meaning that the engine and transmission are American made and installed after it's arrival to the US. by Performance Engineering.  





 

 The paint is exceptional on this Cobra.  To help it remain that way. the rear fenders and doors have been treated to a clear film protectant.

All of the power is fead to the pavement through the 15" Cobra knock off wheels. complete with mallet and stainless saftey wires.  and 295/50 R15 radial tires.  







 The interior features  black vinyl throughout with a wood finished Cobra steering wheel. and racing seat belts.

The drivers seat is adjustable. allowing for those of all sizes to be comfortable.

The door panels are neatly done. There is a simple strap mechanism that opens each door by just pushing down.

Equipped with a 5 speed transmission.  and the modified engine. you are sure to be thrown back in your seat once you step on the throttle.  



 

The dash and gauges have been changed. the owner prefered the more simple flat dash with Auto Meter guages more like what is used in the Superformance Cobras.



The interior does not go too far from the original look with low back buckets that wrap around you and hold you in place.  

The authentic knock off wheels come with the mallet and the stainless safety wires.





The car is badged as the original 427  Shelbys were. The actual engine is a 351ci Windsor. span > stroked to 418 ci. It is rated at approximately 500+ hp @6000 rpm. That being said. all that power with the extremely lightweight body and chassis makes this car a real rocket ship to drive.  

The Cobra intake  and valve covers were added to add  appeal to the look of the engine.

With only 3939 miles on the odometer. this Cobra is barely broken in. It's ready for it's next owner to turn the key and take off. There is nothing needed on this beauty.

 

The side pipe protectors were not installed by the current owner. but can be easily installed if you'd like.

We are a licensed Texas dealership.  It is required that we collect all tax. title and license fees from Texas residents at the time of the sale. We will do all of the title work. Non Texas residents are responsible for paying taxes in his/her state. Overseas customers will be charged a $30. 00 fee for wire transfers. We must collect a vehicle inventory tax of . 002276% and a small documentary fee of $75. 00 on ALL sales.
