If you are rich and famous or you just want to pretend. you can arrive in style in this magnificent Packard.
This car is fitted with a body by the famous Le Baron coach works.
Le Baron coach works manufactured 50 cars for Packard in 1941. which even included one for Mrs. J. W. Packard! The current owner of this car has worked hard to preserve this great example of America's glorious past.
The car was delivered to the original owner. Mr. Johnson. who became famous for inventing the pressure-sensitive door opener specifically for subways and rewarded himself with this beautiful car to enjoy in his retirement.
When the US entered the war in December 1941 the car was carefully stored for the duration of the war as Mr. Johnson's gas rationing coupons wouldn't get him very far in the Packard.
The car was recommissioned again after 1946 and has always been lovingly maintained by its owners and of course has great provenance. The odometer reading of under 39. 00 is correct (we cannot read the mileage in the picture but the seller states that he thinks it is around 36. 00).
“Limousine”. “Packard” and “Le Baron” were the only three words that the current owner had to hear to be convinced that he had found his “dream car”.
The owner of this car says that he loves to drive this car himself and that this car drives like a charm and gives a very stable ride and great performance to boot.
The owner sorted out any mechanical issues and ensured that the car was in perfect original condition prior to being invited to several major concours and car shows including Pebble Beach.
The car's finish was “porcelainized” so that theoretically it never needed waxing.
In 1972. the second owner painted the top silver to compliment the limousine's lines and the seller states that two-tone paint was a legitimate Packard option.
The current owner states that he has maintained the car in it's original state of charm and grace as when new except that he had overdrive added.
His efforts have been rewarded many times with multiple awards from various prestigious car shows.
This Packard is extremely impressive for a car that was built in 1941 and still has a lot of style by today's standards! The car has one of the most elaborate power window systems ever devised.
It has servo-electric with activating switches that operate hydraulic lifts.
The limo would not be complete without the hand held microphone to contact the chauffeur along with the pearl button to give an audible signal for the driver.
The opposite side of the car interior sports a pewter finish vanity mirror for touch ups when arriving for the red carpet.
This car also has a 6 V auxiliary fuel pump and always starts even after long periods of storage.
