1931 Oakland. Stock. Factory Flathead V8. Matching numbering. Awesome. for sale
Current customer rating: (589 votes ) based onLooking for a turn-key. newly restored 99 point vintage car? Here it is. Factory bucket seats. This car. finished just 2 months ago. and after an exhaustive frame off nut and bolt restoration has a rebuilt motor. transmission. and brake system. In addition. all the gauges have been rebuilt and re-faced and the dash repainted and woodgrained. All of the window moldings have also been woodgrained back to original. 100 miles on the car in the last 2 months since completion. Stunning.
The interior is done in the finest of materials:
Seats and door panels are English Bedford wide-rib wool cloth
Carpet is Wilton wool
The engine is the factory original matching numbers rebuilt flathead V-8.
Transmission is the original matching numbers manual 3 speed.
Starter. generator. carburetor. and radiator core have all been rebuilt
This car starts right up. and runs like a Swiss watch. It is very fast.
Well exceeds highway speeds. Yet nothing mechanical has been altered from original factory specs.
The car runs cool and never comes close to overheating.
UNDERCARRIAGE: The best part!
It is currently concourse judging ready. This is a remarkably preserved motorcar. The battery is a new Optima with new cables and an installed kill switch below the fire extinguisher on the passenger side firewall inside the car.
Doors: Close tight. firm and flush. All the wood in the doors and the floors has been re-done. The factory markings and numbers are still in the floor boards.
The trunk in the back is the original with the inside completely relined and ready for judging.
The roll-back top is removable. and when secured. as tight as a drum and waterproof.
The rear windows. although covered with a painted panel are removable as well. held by just 4 screws.
The factory windows are still there and perfectly functional.
The paint job is flawless. And yes I did retain the paint codes. In fact. the burgundy red is the original Oakland Tampa Red.
Base coat. clear coat.
The hood ornament is the original Oakland mascot fitted only on Oakland's with the V-8 engine.
All the glass in the car is from the factory. And there's not a single scratch or chip anywhere in the windshield. Amazing.
Tires and tubes are brand new. with less than 100 miles on them. Like I said. the car was just completed.
The original dome light has been re-wired and works great; as well as the break lights and headlights.
The Oakland was a GM product. They were known for their speed and quality engines. This car drives fantastic. This same Oakland engine in 1930 was driven in the INDY 500 and came in 10th.
You will not find another Oakland like this anywhere.
