The two-door fastback Rapiers were the final pillarless coupes offered by Rootes under the Sunbeam name. They were produced form 1967 until 1976 with the same 1725cc engine as the Hunter but with twin Stromberg carburetors producing 88bhp. Including the Alpine and H120 versions. just 46. 00 were produced but they have become quite rare and according to “how many left” there are only 30 or so still in existence.

This car is a 1968 Sunbeam Rapier automatic in its original colour of Golden Sand. The mileage reading is just 43. 00 but notes in the service book show a speedometer change at 14. 00 making the total mileage just 57. 00 from new. The condition is outstanding – rust free and virtually perfect. with that rare level of originality that you would expect to find at this very low mileage. The body is rust free with arrow (no pun intended) straight panels. the interior is completely original and the underside is excellent with an absence of welded plates or repairs. On the road this Rapier performs perfectly and is surprisingly slick to drive as an automatic.
