VW splitscreen 1965 S042 WESTFALIA patina

Welcome to my advert for my 1965 (MODEL YEAR 1966) pearl white so 42.

History - the bus came originally from the states and was there for the majority of its life. The bus was sold from “moffitt Volkswagen” in Shreveport usa. You can see the oringal dealer sticker still attached to the rear hatch. The bus was used regularly but then had a little bump in the late 80's and was layed up until 2010. the bus then made it across the pond to where it sat for a further 5 years in storage. and then it finally made it on the road this year when I drove it 230 miles back to Redditch. The bus is on a D plate. but DVLA have got this wrong this is a august 65 bus and that is the first month of so 42 production. so 42 westys are very sought after not only because of there design but also with there history. I bought the bus earlier this year with the intention of keeping it for many years to come. And have replaced nearly all the mechanicals the bus has never been to any shows or spent any time on the road this year. I drove it back here and began work. My plans have changed and this is why she's up for sale.

Mechanical's - the bus still has its original 1500 stock single port engine. I drove the bus back from Clacton on sea with no issues apart from the oil leak which once removed from the bus turned out to be an oil cooler seal which has now been replaced. stock year correct dizzy fitted. the reduction hubs and gearbox have been removed and replaced with a late 1300 beetle gearbox for better gearing. the engine now has 8 brand new push rod tubes from a little oil leak it had. The generator does flicker when on tick over. suspect that it's the original generator so would suggest maybe an alternator conversion for the future. That said it still charges the battery ok. The electrics are now 12 v and they all work ok. It has a brand new starter motor and a brand new clutch. New Porsche pattern rear wheel hubs and all new brakes lines copper and flexi throughout. It has a new dual master cylinder and new flexi up front with 944 discs brakes and hubs. it has a new 4. 5 transportehaus beam and brand new flipped spindles. it has brand adjustable spring plates from transportehaus. With new doughnuts and nuts and bolts It also come with professionally modified lower arms. The bus will come with x 4 new staggered SSP Fuchs. Only 2 have been detailed as I haven't had the time to do the other two but they do come With fresh good year tyres all round. It has a buttys throttle kit which has recently been fitted for better response through the pedal. I have replaced all the gearrod bushes and seals.

Interior - the bus comes complete with its original SO 42 interior. one of the first buses to come with an so 42 conversion in the august of 1965 and two things that you don't see many buses with it's a non pop top and non walk through so 42. its complete even down the coat hooks and mirror in the cupboard. The fabric is in great condition and the interior was taken out and fresh insulation was installed the original westfalia lights still work and the front has been treated to fresh salt and pepper seat covers and door cards. The seat frames were taken and stripped down and powered coated. Completely original inside no holes cut for accessories. The fridge is there and intact and not broken. The head locker is in place and works well. someone has in the past cut out holes for speaker inserts.

Exterior - what can I say. the paint is out of this world. The main reason I was attracted to this bus was the epic paint. The sun bleach pearl white paint is in incredible the roof it self is a work of art. There are no pin holes in the and the gutters are as solid as the day it was new. A lot Of patina roofs come with pin hole leaks this one is free from all that. The bus like all bus had to have both outer sills replaced but no welding required on this bus at all. being a Texas bus it's as dry as a bone.

Extra - if the asking price is met then I have a set of brand new CE safari windows to go with the bus. and an original SO 42 luggage rack for the roof (currently in bits). If the asking price is not met then I will happily sell these after the sale of the bus. I won't sell them before so please don't ask.
