Classic 1971 Fiat 500 Berlina Lusso for sale
Current customer rating:
This fantastic little car is a real head turner. It was first registered in the South of Italy in January 1971 and was owned by one female owner on a Bari plate BA 290944 until it was sold in 1974 where it remained in the same family for over 40 years on a Taranto plate TA 164561.
It was imported to the UK earlier this year and is now fully UK registered on plate MCY 354 J as of 1 st April 2016 and has an MOT until the end March 2017. It has covered 79. 80 km or 49. 00 miles.
In addition to the standard spec the car has a synchromesh gearbox (meaning no double declutching when changing gear) as well as an Abarth exhaust and Abarth sump. The original exhaust and sump have been kept and will be included in the sale. A VOXSON Junior 70 radio was retrofitted by the second owner but the wire powering it has become detached and requires rewiring.
The engine runs incredibly well and starts first time every time. The car has just had four new wheels and tyres as well as a new tyre on the spare. The headlights have been replaced to convert it for UK roads and the rear light housings have also been replaced. It includes its original car jack and wrench and a warning triangle.
The car underwent a full respray before being imported and the body is in excellent condition. All other parts of the car remain original and are in very good condition for the age. There is a small tear in the drivers seat covering as seen in the photos.
The Lusso was the penultimate model and featured increased comfort and luxury and included interior features such as piped vinyl seats and a fuel gauge. It also offers external upgrades over the earlier models with front and rear bumper bars providing greater visual appeal.
The car comes with a Club Certificate from the A. S. I (AUTOMOTOCLUB STORICO ITALIANO)
These Fiats are sure to increase in value over the coming years due to their fantastic originality. character and importance in automotive history with them being the first car used by the masses in Italy.
